If Bassitt keeps pitching like this, he’ll bring us back something nice that the trade deadline

Zero excuse for this team not to be in the playoff mix.

They called two balls strikes to Soto earlier in the inning. Biased umpiring? You are unhinged dude…

The home plate umpire has missed at least a dozen  balls and strikes both ways.  There's been an American bias to the umpires for years.  If you don't see it you're blind.

I wish the season ended after the 7th game of the season. Happier times back then.

I didn't watch the game, but Garcia and Hoffman combining for 11 pitches while Little and Sandlin face multiple batters and blow the game is vintage John Schneider.

Yeah that’s some terrible bullpen management that inning. Could complain about the 8th too.

Stupid wasted game. Also, we need Vlad and Tony to start driving in runs. Enough garbage grounders and strikeouts

The umps don’t think like that. Only insecure people think like that. Majority American players on the Blue Jays. American Club President, GM and manager.

No one in the US thinks that way, they don’t think like that or give a f***. You would have more bias from people who hate NY or the North East vs South or West coast vs East Coast bias. Or heartland vs big city…

Pathetic in 2025 people are still blaming bad calls as some anti- Canadian BS.

Well this game sort of check the boxes of what the 2025 Blue Jays are expected to be:

Competitive starting pitching:

Struggle with runners in scoring position:

Ass middle relief with two really good guys at the end of the bullpen:

Not even mad. Just numb.

Looks like the lack of offence is going to piss this game away, shame.

The lineup construction is terrible. Tony should be batting 4 or 5. He is not a 3 hitter. Kirk is no more than 7 or 8..... this team will struggle to score runs

That check swing call was absolutely brutal.  Had Winker made contact it would have been a double!  There's only one explanation for a call that bad and it has a lot to do with a New York team being the opponent.

If that call is made Winker strikes out, Springer isn't hurt and the Jays probably win the game.

Go ahead and claim there's no bias.  I disagree.  And it's worse when you play New York.  And it's bound to be worse this year than before given all the recent events.

How do you have a top 5 payroll on baseball with a s*** lineup and no real high leverage lefty in the bullpen?  Wtf are we going to do when the eventual injuries hit like they do every team...

Brutal in a lot of ways

Santander blows

Kirk is lost again

Vlad is a stupid hacker, waste of talent

Little was pwning Winker then hung one pitch. Winker also clearly swung earlier so he had a nice four strike plate appearance.

Springer should have caught that ball. Bad route cost them the game and hurt himself. Seems like a bad injury although I couldn't tell what he hurt.

Nice to know Chad Green has... no role? Isn't trusted? I mean he does suck so that makes sense.

We all know what to expect. The team does not have a plus offense so expect close games, and the bullpen is obviously mediocre at best so that's not a great recipe. Even if Wagner and Roden hit well all year, they aren't power threats so nothing much changes about the team and its flaws.

Yeah as bad as everything was that game if Springer makes that catch they very likely win the game. Sucks they wasted a gem from Bassit.

I actually liked the at bats from most of the lineup. Kirk should probably move down in the order until he gets going.

The team looks better than I thought coming into the season. Still a ton of games left so no need to wave the white flag after an ugly loss.

It's the 2023 team except with a worse bullpen and worse (older) rotation. With Schneider on the last year of his contract, I think there's a real chance for a mid season firing here but not sure that's going to make a significant difference. They'll need the offense to compensate for a lot of their weaknesses this season, and not sure they have enough power for that.

If if's and buts were candys and nuts, we would all have a very merry Christmas. How long have you been watching baseball for?

If Soto wasn't 2 balls in the hole (yea baby) maybe he would have hit a HR and made it moot. If the Big 3 Jays bats hit anything other than singles, maybe we would have blown it open. If we had an extra bat instead of Gimenez in the clean up spot (mirage as a clean up hitter) maybe the Jays would have blown it open and the Winker play wouldn't matter. If Springer hadn't of let a previous single go for a triple, etc, etc, etc.

That game was not made or break on a check swing call and it is obtuse to think so.

All that stuff you mention is baseball.  An ump turning a judgement call in New York's favor is not.

Your argument that the Jays players and management being mostly American precludes an umpire bias makes no sense.

I've been watching baseball since the early 70s.  I'm guessing long before you were born.

I'm generation X haus, you aren't talking to a Millennial or whatever came next.

I have heard this anti-Canadian ump bias since the days of Exhibition stadium and the 94 strike was coordinated to screw the Expos from winning a WS and blah, blah, blah.

There is a difference between bad calls and bias.  How the hell did we win two WS and a boat load of AL East championships prior to the WC if all this bias?

As to your New York bias, do you think the umps are all from New York City? You think an ump that grew up in Boston has a New York bias? Country Joe West when he was around umping has a New York bias?? Hunter Wendelstead, famous for kicking Aaron Boone out of a game, went to school in New Orleans and him and his father ran an ump school in the Daytona Beach, FL area have a NY bias??

This anti-Canadian ump bias should have gone away around the time the Betamax.

Total weak sauce to blame just a bad call/s or a Team loss on that s***....

Next you'll be trying to tell me there's no bias in Raptors games.

Yeah this one was frustrating to say the least. The home plate umpire was horribly inconsistent pitch to pitch, the bullpen didn't get the job done, the team left a million runners on base, Springer left with apparent injury, Schneider didn't use Hoffman with the game tied heading into the 9th inning etc.
