Gimenez batting cleanup is disgusting but all the right players are playing, so can’t complain. The Jays definitely seem all in on Roden.

I literally had to do a double and triple take when I saw him in the cleanup spot. I looked on 3 different apps just to see if the first 2 got it wrong.

Fingers crossed some of the spring training success carries over to the regular season.

I think more telling is that Springer was already bumped down in the order. Might signal they're slightly concerned about his ST performance. Gimenez-Kirk we're going to see a lot of this season unless Kirk actually does break out with the bat again, or Gimenez struggles out of the gate.

Yeah, I mean.... Gimenez is far from the ideal cleanup hitter, but, as far as that lineup is concerned... may as well. Bo, Vlad, Santander 1-2-3 is about as easy to pencil in as it gets. They're 100% correct that hitting Kirk directly ahead of Gimenez pretty much kills 90% of Gimenez value as a baserunner, so he has to hit ahead of Kirk instead and the way Kirk is hitting you want him top 5 for sure.

Springer is clearly being given the signals that he needs to figure his s*** out quick.

Really would put Wagner or Roden as cleanup early on given their lack of experience, but... obviously that could change early on if either one breaks out. SO with Kirk needing to be top 5 and Gimenez having to hit ahead of him... that leaves cleanup. Also a very easy decision to swap him out with either Roden or Wagner is either one of them starts off hot.

Clement in the bottom 3 is where he should be.

Wonder where they gonna stick Varsho when he comes back. He's much more of a power threat that anyone else of the roster, but that swing/miss is as much of a rally kill as anything too.

The real plus of this lineup now is they are stacked with decent LHH options against RHP and can still be defensively sound up the middle.

I think they’re going to knock Eflin around and we’re going to see a classic 4BB 5K 0ER start from Berrios

Over 7 IP.

Interesting to see how they do the lineup when Varsho gets back. My guess is if Roden or Wagner start out hot then they'll move into the lead off spot with Bo moving to 4th, but then how they move everyone else down will be the question.

This part makes sense if Gimenez can actually get on base so depends on whether we get 2022 version vs 2023/2024.

2023/2024 version just becomes a rally killer and I'd rather have Kirk hit cleanup even if it means having 2 slow guys back to back.

Yeah really the only questionable decision in the lineup.

I like utilizing Springer in CF and that he’s hitting 6th. Love that they got Rodon and Wagner in there too.

I approve of this lineup. Nice to see Wagner, Roden, Clement all in there.

I agree with Springer in CF most of the time until Varsho is back. This boosts the offense since Roden gets in the lineup. I am sure old George can catch most of them for a couple of weeks.

I don't mind Gimenez 4th. After Tony Taters homers, he's a fun "leadoff hitter" to come up. Also can "lead off" the second inning if the Jays go 0-3 to begin a game. And he can probably be an old school RBI guy put the ball in play etc. when needed.

I am sure the lineup from 4th to 9th is very fluid. Great to see they are already slotting Springer 6th. Guys like Roden and Wagner can shoot up to 4th if they earn it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I enjoyed your take on this. Yes I agree it's too early yo worry about how the batting order 4 to 9 looks like. Need to give it a few games and see who establishes themselves.

I'm high on Wagner and Roden so I hope they come out making a statement and stick. I'm also excited about Varsho this season and I've said a few times I can see him being a 30 HR guy and he's my hot take on who will end up in the #4 spot vs RHPs.

I'm also hoping Barger stays hot at AAA and forces his way to the jays soon.

Our best shot on vastly improving our offense this year is if we have some internal growth from our young players... and we have a lot of young players. Other than Springer and Santander and Clemente you could say all our guys are just entering their prime or haven't even gotten close to their prime

I'm optimisticly excited for this season!

Prediction:

Zach Eflin goes 2+ IP giving up 7 ER and 3 HR.

He hits the 60 day IL after the game with a torn ego and goes under the knife in April for a butt deflation procedure

Bench is half decent too.

Straw as the late game pinch hitter for a LHH against a tough LHP, pinch runner and CF replacement.

Lukes, ditto except for RHB

Schneider another good pinch hitter with pop versus LHP early on, can slot into LF or 2b.

Alot depends on which version shows up .. true.

At worst, he's a 9 hole guy, at best he could actually leadoff.

Now that it is opening day, the Toronto Blue Jays roster seems almost perfect. Hard to see any flaws at all.

Really just that 1 power bat short TBH. The rest is as good as it can be really.
