[Davidi] The industry seems to have treated the Blue Jays like the party guest who’s a two at 10 p.m. just waiting to become someone’s 10 at 2 a.m.

"They act like they're a bottom feeder", lamented one agent.

Is he saying other players/agents act like the Jays are a bottom-feeder, or that the Jays act like bottom-feeders?

Think they mean the Jays as an org are acting like a bottom feeder. Atkins is just looking for the deals.

Just connecting the dots between all the reports of us being "in" on guys is what I've been assuming... Jays call most free agents to say let them know they are interested at dollar store prices.  Nothing wrong with the approach but I'm sure it probably pisses agents off after a few times.  Ah well lol

Atkins is that guy on Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace who always asks what's the best price and then sends you a lowball.

You mean he's kind of like you in every fantasy league?

Silver and Brownie a EMS aren't going to like this one bit.  Shatkins always a 10 for them

Another moron that can't put two and two together. Wonderful

Listen up genius....

There are people who think Shatins is a 0/10 (simpletons like you for example)

There are people who think Shatkins is a 10/10 (well, actually nobody is probably in this category except maybe their moms?)

There are people who think Shatkins is more closer to a 4-6/10 (guys like me and I'm assuming max and Brownie)

Problem is, dummies like you think anyone who isn't on here whining and bitching every single minute about every single thing, and aren't 0/10 Shatkins guys...well then you automatically assume they must be 10/10 Shatkins guys when those guys don't really exist.

You know you aren't doing a very good job of using the ignore list if you continue to try to pick fights with posters that you are supposedly ignoring.

I don't mind him trolling for deals, but at some point you want to stop catching bait fish and actually catch something big.

This video is painfully accurate. I just went through all of this when selling a bunch of our old home furnishings as we recently redecorated. The worst I encountered were potential "buyers" who asked if I would be willing to deliver stuff to them that I was giving away for free. FFS.Angry Season 6 GIF by The Office

This offseason has been depressing so far but aside from last offseason the front office made meaningful additions every single offseason since the 2019 period. And if I'm not mistaken this included a qualified free agent every offseason as well prior to last year. The worthwhile additions are drying up in a hurry so hopefully the team can grab a few decent upgrades before the season starts.

That's terrible, and people can be dumb as f***. The best experience I has was when I sold a Wii-U on there years ago and a few people were messaging about it. I sold it and one dude flipped his lid. Told me I'll be hearing from his lawyer.

Dealing with people on Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace is totally the worst. I priced all of our old stuff well below market value so that it would move quickly as we needed to get our house back in order after full interior repainting and adding a bunch of new furnishings. Despite this people kept insisting that I should sell my stuff for even lower than the way below market value prices and that they were doing me a favor by making lowball offers to me.

And to top it all off there are a million scammers out there now who give you a story about how they are too busy to pick up your item right away, and offer to pay for it right away and pick it up within the week. I had a multitude of fishy looking/almost certainly fake E-transfers that link to suspicious looking external sites come my way to the point where I had to insist on auto deposit e transfer or cash only.

Yeah it can be annoying and tiring dealing with a bunch of these tire kickers. Once in the blue, you get a decent person to deal with.

It's always best to list your items more than what you want to get in your pocket, because of this very reason. Even if you list something below value, you'll likely have a couple schmucks still asking if you can do better on the price. For example, if I'm okay with letting a video game go for $30, will list it at $40 since everyone messaging me asks if I could do a lower price. I then say yeah I can do $30 and usually will get someone to pick it up. If I list it at $30, every message will be asking if I could do a lower price.

To avoid scammers on expensive items, always agree to meet at a police station, where they usually have a buy/sell exchange zones. When I sold an extra PS5 I had, met the buyer at a police station. Otherwise, I had people asking for my address or asking me to meet them in a parking lot of their apartment building lmao.

Even worse: Agrees to buy something for 50 bucks then shows up at your door and asks if you'll take 30.

(I've actually had this happen to me and had to send them away)

Yeah he's made plenty of big moves.

The casuals have short term memories so the idea that Ross can't sign anyone stems from basically two things:

1- Not being able to sign Ohtani or Soto, two guys who were never going to sign here anyway.

2- One mediocre offseason last year.

His real problem is player development, but that won't stop the casuals from crying about FA signings.

Try being a fan from the post World Series years in the mid 90s until the mid 2010s. Outside of that 2006 offseason, we REALLY couldn't sign anyone.

Anyone can efficiently spend on free agents, it isn't rocket science thanks to sabermetrics.

I give them a 2/10. No team spent more and had fewer wins. Good young players are the only way to win. Free agency is more like a top up, a few wins on the curve maybe.

And even with free agency, they haven't convinced ownership to spend in accordance to the Jays market size. In all likelihood Jays are the biggest TV market by a lot. They should be top 3 payroll at least

Can’t wait to see what kind of deals Ross finds this Boxing Day!! We sure sound confident he’s ready to pounce

Or nobody wants to sign here because the team sucks ass and will be building around Alejandro Kirk and Daulton Varsho in 2026

He's made some nice trades, but in the last 3 offseasons I believe the only somewhat impact signing we've had is Bassitt. Last year the team had a lot of very clear needs and none were addressed. None have been this year.  We either need to go for it or rebuild, not dangle a hook with no bait and hope to snag something.

Do you really think that free agents like Anthony Santander won't sign here for reasons other than money?

If the Jays really wanted him they could sign him tonight. They just don't think he's worth what he's asking for and apparently all of the other teams agree.

We should be trading Varsho this season - as soon as he's healthy.  He's a FA after 2026.
