If you want to do semantics about the NTC that may give your opinion a tiny sliver of reality, fine. Unlike those people that kind of feel the Blues every day, I can admit when I’m wrong. That’s always how it’s going to be. Right on some, wrong on others. I used to be high on Kirk and then just lost belief in him as a hitter, I was also wrong thinking Hoffman was a great signing. I also thought Greene was worth the risk. I have definitely been right about Vlad and very much hating Giménez and Santander deals. Royce Lewis

Bo tends to go through defensive slumps at times where he's bobbling more plays in the field so I'm confident he'll clean this up in time. In past seasons he tended to have a few games/weeks where he made a bunch of miscues in the field and then played slightly above average defense to allow the metrics to tick back up towards neutral. This season the diminished range in the field hasn't allowed the metrics to recover once he's emerged from the slump. I'm hoping that a healthy offseason to work on improving his explosiveness/athleticism at short stop can help to recover some of the lost range instead of needing to rehabilitate from leg injuries but that might be wishful thinking on my part. Yeah I think at his age it’s only going to get worse if I’m being honest. The body has gotten pretty heavy the last couple of years and his Dad was a pretty stocky guy as well so I think his days at SS are coming to an end. The question for me is can he even stay on the infield because his arm strength has completely evaporated.
Padapaxia Verified Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 If Bichette is gone after the season, the Blue Jays have some prospects like Parker and Nimmala to fill the position in a few years. But does Josh Kasevich have the ability to play SS for the big team for 2026?

Bo has plenty of arm strength to play second base and I don’t think his arm is too weak for short stop by any means, his issues stem more from issues getting to balls in the first place due to diminishing range. More likely they shift Gimenez to short most days and try to fill 2b hole with either an internal platoon, or a trade/signing.

Couple different ways to go about this. I considered that, but... that leaves RF for Barger and DH stuffed with both Springer and Santander. Bit of a logjam in that case. It's probably gonna be a similar thing to this season where Barger, Clement, Schneider, Gimenez and 1 more guy get cycled through the 3 IF positions and RF depending on matchups. That seems to be the preferred method at the moment .. barring unforeseen trades of course.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 We could lose Bo and easily upgrade him defensively with Barger at 3B, Gimenez at SS and Ernie at 2B. Problem is we desperately that his bat in the middle of the order, I dont see that being replace unless we somehow land Tucker.

And if you land Tucker, that means Springer or Santander has to go via trade or the DH spot gets jammed up. Not the worst of problems, but ... it is one.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 If the same FO and manager is in place this winter, then it would take a literal bullet to stop Schneider from playing Clement everyday, so my guess is Clement at SS and Gimenez at 2B, or vice versa is the plan. Kinda intrigued by Kasevich as apparently he does hit the ball hard but just hasn't shown much power, so maybe Popkins can do something with that given the excellent contact rates. I think between Barger, Clement, Gimenez, and DS, they have 3B-SS-2B covered reasonably well if they wanted to go internal there and spend on an outfield upgrade. I don't think I'd want to trust Lukes duplicating 2025 moving forward given his age/profile, and not sure Joey is a full time player. I said before, if Atkins could build a player with a mold of clay, it would be Kwan, so I wonder if that's revisited this winter.

Springer/Santandar split RF/DH, Tucker plays LF with Varsho at CF would actually be an upgrade.

Not saying that's wrong, just making sure you considered that

Not really taking your pick when Lukes doesn't play the IF at all the OF spots and DH spot is taken by your projected lineup. Again, not saying it's wrong..

He seems way better at 3B even if his range/glove are below average.

But yeah his range also has been quite bad and given his weakness going to his right 2B doesn't seem like a good spot.
