Hoffman- Terrible. Max- Bad (including injury) Deadline- Varland/Dominguez- underwhelming together and plain bad for Varland Bieber could be his saving grace of sorts but man, did he not help things. GoBlue41 Verified Member Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 Yeah, I know it's tough to stay positive as we limp toward the playoffs, but with Bo coming back hopefully and Yesavage entering the rotation, I'm still feeling good about this team. Who knows, maybe Santander's bat adds a much needed punch as well. You never know! Let's just hang on and find a way! That starts with tomorrows game to stop the bleeding. Likely means he doesn't pitch in the postseason either. Lauer has a leg up. The third spot in the rotation is Yesavage's to lose at this point.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 Yeah I don’t think I want to see Scherzer start again, certainly not in a game that matters. Berrios makes sense in the bullpen now because they need someone to throw innings in case Bieber/Yesavage can’t give them length, and Berrios is the only one with enough rest to be able to do it, but if it’s between him and Max in the rotation, then I’m not sure which one I’d go with. Pick your poison. Stangstag and BatFlip 2

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 The old f***s in the rotation are collapsing and Trey may falter under the pressure of the task of saving them. We're not that far off from turning to the pitcher that is not afraid to strike fear into batters(by throwing at their heads).

I think it's far more likely that the team would call up Macko before giving Manoah a sniff of the majors this season. DonJays 1

Just gotta get in and hope to get hot at the right time, I guess.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 In an interview today JS suggested Berrios wasn't very happy about it Subterfuge to push him to opt out? LOL

If they clinch they have options from the minors, they may just call up Manoah, otherwise it's a bullpen game in one of the most important games of the season. Spanky__99 1

I could see a Lauer/Berrios piggyback In fact I feel like they'll have Lauer or Berrios on standby every time Scherzer and Yesavage start just in case. Spanky__99 1
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Suddenly the Yankees could flip it If the Jays go 3-4 and the Yankees could realistically go 6-1 against the Orioles and White Sox. At least they line up to face Bradish twice, Rogers once, and Shane Smith. Four actual starters. Not seven Dean Kremers or Sean Burkes. Jays matchups look like... Wacha, Giolito, Bello, Crochet, Houser, Pepiot, Seymour. Last six at home is a big deal.

Every division is in doubt, the wild card is in doubt, just when we thought we knew all the answers, baseball changed all the questions.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Yankees going 6-1 and Jays going 3-4 is unfortunately a very realistic outcome based on schedules and the Jays injuries. Getting Tony back might help. I still think the Jays get the division, but it's gotten to the point where it's not a certainty and could easily flip. The beauty, and misery, of a baseball season. Gen.Disarray Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 It sucks to have to rely on so much luck when the team has been so good this year up to this point. Feels like we'll need the Yanks to lose a few games, ugh
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 They really need to avoid the WC round if at all possible.

When we won 6 in a row, most thought we couldn't lose and the pennant was a lock. I was one of the guys saying, it ain't over till it's over. Now we lose 4 in a row, many are convinced we will never score more than 1 run in a game, the offense is broken, and we've already choked the division. You said it perfectly my man. The beauty and misery of a baseball season, all encapsulated within a week and a half. If it was always easy, the game wouldn't be as glorious. Let's go Jays! Stangstag, leaffie and Spanky__99 3
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Here’s a little anecdote for everyone, only because i vaguely remember so i looked it up. On Sept.27 2023, the Texas Rangers had 91% chance to win the division via fangraphs projections. With 4 games remaining, they went 1-3 and lost the division, barely sneaking in as the last wildcard. They went on to win the WS that year. Baseball is crazy, so buckle up because this next week will be stressful as hell. But in the end, anything can happen. BatFlip and Governator 2
