He literally said it was from August in his post dude.  That being said, it is important to note that all of that 55 million is now off the books as it was mostly from traded players.

Which has absolutely no bearing on payroll going forward so why bring it up? And yes I understand how deferred money works. I'm not expecting a $400MM payroll but to say we can't/won't run with the big spenders is a little premature IMHO.

They should just start reporting on who we aren't interested in. It would be bigger news at this point.

There's Carlos Estevez as well, I ain't complaining, bro.

Send them Davis Schneider and like 6M bucks

The Padres are a mess. They have zero depth, no money and could really use some of our Buffalo Boy types.

I wonder if we could work something out where we take on Arraez (probably negative trade value tbh) and get Yuki Matsui or Adrian Morejon and a prospect for a couple of Buffalo Boys.

I guess we kind of have an Arraez type already though in Will Wagner. Maybe just trade a Buffalo Boy straight up for Matsui or Morejon.

How much time is Kim supposed to miss?

Sign Kim, trade Bo, sign Alonso..

When healthy:

C - Kirk

1B - Alonso / Vlad

2B - Giminez

3B - Vlad / Clement

SS  Kim

LF  Santander

CF  Varsho

RF  Springer

DH - Wagner

Bench - Bethancourt or Heineman / Clement / Straw / Jiminez

Trade a couple Buffalo boys for relief arms if possible.

Scherzer would be nice to round out the SP as well.

If you're trading Bo then go sign Bregman and we probably don't even skip a beat.  Also Gimenez's main selling point is defense so he better be playing SS and let Wagner/Clement fight for 2B.

Still so many questions with the roster that all begin with Vlads/Bo's extension.

Dude. The original idea in my post was about signing Kim. He's the one I put at SS, and he is also a high end defender.

I know... I just tweaked your idea into something better if we were to trade Bo lol.

I think Giminez is potentially a better short stop defender than Kim but we don't have a lot of innings at the position to get a proper gauge. I believe a year at second base would potentially be a good thing for Kim as he works on rebuilding his throwing strength after shoulder surgery.

Yeah that would work too.

The thought of Varsho, Kim and Giminez up the middle of the diamond is intriguing.

You just want them to three hole punch you.

With all these talks about Alonso going on…

Hypothecally talking… Do you take

Alonso at 3 years @ 25m per

Bregman at 6 years @ 27.5m per

0 chance Bregman is still being offered that. I believe he rejected 6/152 or something from the Astros before free agency started.

If he were being offered that at this stage then he would have taken it.  My guess is 5 x 25 and I'd take Bregman on that over Alonso but I'd also be super happy with Alonso.

Likely get more value with Bregman's defense.

Bregman all day over Alonso, but Alonso is probably more realistic and if it’s like 3 years way less risk.

Bregman for 5 years over Alonso for 3

However, Alonso might have no choice but to choose Toronto whereas Bregman for a reasonable five year deal can probably pick one of four or five teams and it won't be torana

Yeah, I can see that. Well, I guess we can all see that.

Bregman but only 3 years for Pete isn’t bad

If he’s less interested to play in Toronto than in Detroit or Houston for example, the 6th year could be needed to get him.

I get it. That’s why I suggested 6 years @ 27.5m for Bregman.
