Who cares what Lauer thinks, Jays gave him a chance and he is still getting paid well this year and has an opportunity to build on it. All he can do is shut up and work his ass off, lots of players would kill to be in his situation on a WS contender.

I agree and if not Scherzer, my first realistic choice all off season has Flaherty and would help bridge the gap as we lose guys like Bassit next winter.

Don’t forget Yimi. The pen looks solid as of now and I’m not sure they are done with it yet. It’s been a solid offseason as is but we need another bat or SP at the minimum for us to realistically be a threat.

No way we get both Alonso and Bregman. Right now 1 would be lucky considering Bregman has multiple options and Pete wants to stay in NY. If we can get Pete then pivot and grab the best SP who will sign with us.

Sure but if anyone is worthy of a DL spot it’s Trout. I’m also assuming this is a redraft league and not dynasty. A healthy year from Trout (yes asking too much) is absolutely elite.

Guerrero signing an extension in inevitable at this point. -
He has been saying the right things up until now and it’s so or don’t time so I think given what the front office has done and what they will offer, I think he will stay as long as they pay him like he would get paid in free agency. The time for discount has passed and we are not exactly a franchise strapped for cash.

Still doesn’t measure up to the big whales in the league. An organization can give you the world but if no one recognizes it then what are we talking about?

Atkins is doing his best. As much as I want to rip him, sadly he is part of a piss poor organization. Is he a great GM? Absolutely not, but if he were in an attractive market he might have a different story to tell.

That’s the point. We’re already at a disadvantage before even signing a player. Then factor in this team has little to look forward too in terms of impact prospects, aging rotation and our two biggest stars are on expiring contracts. Paying 20% more still isn’t enough.

Yes but why would any of them want to play for this team unless they have no other offers?

Most likely signals some trades incoming. Only way adding Straw makes sense and even then we just downgraded our offense even further.

Sad part is Atkins might actually be a boss in a market that can attract talent. He has signed and traded for some big names but in a real baseball market he probably isn’t ridiculed like he is in Toronto. -
