That combination sounds like baseball hell

It's happened twice now that Bobby starts saying something and then just stops mid-sentence, and doesn't finish even if given time by his partner. And for some reason his partner refers to him as Bobby V. Not Bobby - Bobby V. Every time he addresses him.

It drives me semi bonkers that the Blue Jays have hitting labs in their spring training complex and Rogers Center but Bo Bichette chooses to spend his practice time hitting off of a tee.

There something to be said for the athlete that has a "been there, done that" attitude when it comes to everyday celebrations in sports.

Save the big cellys for the big moments. So many attention whores out there these days.

Meh, pretty sure Vladdy works out in Tampa and not at the Jays facility either. Barger is another guy who lives in Tampa area but doesn't work out at the Jays facility either.

Maybe the players just aren't confident in the coaching/system the Jays have or are worried about their data in some way.

I think it's kind of fun in how ridiculous and over the top it is. Like it's so ingrained in him to do this celebration that it messes up his confidence if he doesn't do it. As long as he's not injuring himself by jumping 3 feet in the air and landing each time I say you do you. He better not be barking back at anyone that pimps a homer off him or mocks him after getting the best of him though, now that would be lame as hell.

This sounds like an overly simplistic view of the situation but okay

If you read between the lines even a little bit it appears as though Bo is very old school in his preparation approach. He's made comments that strongly suggest he's not particularly interested in the more advanced data and training approaches. That's fine as it's obviously his prerogative with regards to training methods but I fully believe he's holding himself back with the extreme over aggressiveness at the plate and unlocking his full potential will require improvement.

Can't fix a bad/entitled attitude, and unfortunately it seems like both Bo and Vlad have this issue

"Best position-playing prospect trio in a generation"? Come on Passan. That's a little much don't you think?

I thought that too, but it's actually hard to rember other teams who have had 3 top-15 ish position player prospects at the same time.

Hmm ok yeah maybe it is closer than I thought.

Vlad/Bo/Jansen were #1 (and a generational #1 at that), #9 and #49 on Fangraphs. Seems like the Braves with Acuna/Riley and someone or Orioles at some point recently would be right there as well?

Remember Bichette is a Blue Jay partly because they weren't going to try and change his swing and would allow him to do it his way.  I suspect they still respect that agreement.

This is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

Man, am I old? I'm usually pro fun, bat flips, fist pumps, or whatever. But something about this has me rooting for him to blow out both hamstrings doing that...

Luis Gil shutdown for 6 weeks with a lat strain, I guess Stroman makes the opening day roster rotation after all,

As guys get ramped up for the season, spring training seems like such a perilous time for injuries in this sport. The game relies on explosive movements being made from stationary positions and any small nick can take you off the field.

  • Yankees are getting bit with injuries which you love to see. LeMahieu, Stanton and now Gil.
  • Kutter Crawford is unlikely to start the season for the Sox.
  • Orioles got a couple of nicks so far this offseason in Trevor Rogers and McDermott.

The Jays have avoided the injury bug so far and if anything Varsho's health looks pretty encouraging. Let's pray this continues.

Minor league deal for Jose Iglesias, coming of a 2.5 WAR season

To be fair the 2.5 WAR was carried by a .382 BABIP. With that said, Iglesias can play all over the infield well, has good career splits against LHP, and has been a 1+ WAR player for 10 straight seasons who is lauded as a great clubhouse presence. Basically an ideal utility player who can spot start for a few weeks at a time without killing you.

Good pickup for the Padres. Was hoping we could trade them a Buffalo Boy for one of their relievers.

They definitely have a "stars and scrubs" roster and middling players like Iglesias probably help them more than any other contender. He's a decent upgrade over someone like Tyler Wade.

Brewers signed Quintana for only 4M? Wow... that's cheap.

Yeah in a perfect world, he would have been a nice fit here for even $7 to 8M if the Jays ended up moving Bassitt and his $21M earlier in the offseason. Would have required having a crystal ball though lol.

Woodruff not going to be ready for Opening Day, plus looks like Ashby will miss time in the early going as well.  There was an opening for Quintana and he's a reliable/durable arm for them. Don't think Quintana would have found a better situation either.
