I haven't been able to find a single piece of evidence that points to the current bat known as the torpedo bat having been around for more than a handful of years. There have been plenty of other bats that had unusual shaped barrels over the years but the current bat is a new creation.

The bat in the video you are disputing literally says Torpedo on it. Dont be so obtuse

Nobody is arguing that they’re new to the league but the concept is not brand new

This entire pointless argument (that you started for reasons I can't ascertain) started when I complained that the torpedo bat in combination with Yankee Stadium was making a mockery of competitive integrity. Your response to this was that both of Yankee Stadium and torpedo bats have been around for decades so I shouldn't care. The "proof" you provided to prove that torpedo bats were somehow irrelevant as a recent occurrence in MLB was to provide a video showing an aluminum bat. This may be a shocker for you but MLB uses wooden bats. It's entirely possible that this aluminum bat served as inspiration for the current wooden MLB bats, or it could be more of an unintentional occurrence where the new bat was created without prior knowledge of the aluminum bat of yesteryear. As far as I can see wooden torpedo bats (which is the only type remotely relevant to MLB) are a recent invention. Whether the concept existed in aluminum training bats doesn't change when the current wooden/MLB approved bat was conceived.

Caleb Joseph said on the Jays broadcast that Ketal Marte was using one in 2019 when he played with him on the Diamondbacks...

That's interesting. I wonder if anyone else was using them at the time or if it was isolated to Marte only.

The one I found was just that Ketel Marte was using a similar bat since around 2019.

It's actively snowing in Detroit as the Yankees face the Tigers. Temp of 5 C, feels like -1. That must be miserable for all involved.

That's T-shirt weather for most Canadians! If there's not much wind and you have your blood pumping, it's probably not too bad.

Our country is in national mourning. The roof of a nightclub collapsed with some 800 people inside.

Octavio Dotel and a sister of Nelson Cruz died.

Oh man, that's devastating. RIP

In a phone call a few hours earlier, Dotel said, "I'm fine. I could last three more days here under the rubble."

He died in the ambulance after being rescued.

Damn, I didn't realize it was a mass casualty event :(

Is Tork for real? Or is this a mirage?  Guy almost didn't make the team.  Now he's their cleanup hitter, hitting .300/.400/.600

well, no

his xBA is .235 and he has a 33% K rate

but his projections are fine and I buy them

Well yeah of course, he has a .435 BABIP. His xWOBA was .363 coming into this game before the added homerun, so it hasn't all been a fluke. They could live with him being a masher that strikes out a bunch as long as he's doing damage. A decent TTO Tork is on the table as a likely outcome.

Not sure how long batted ball data takes to stabilize, but he's been pulling the ball way more, 60% thus far.

Yankees barely avoided a sweep against the Tigers by yanking Devin Williams before he blew the game

Tonight's game is suddenly a must-win or we drop into a tie for 2nd.

How long is Nick Kurtz going to be in the minors?

Depends on Soderstrom I think.

Soderstrom just went to the IL and Kurtz just hit his 6th HR in AAA and is rocking a wRC+ of like 250.  It might be time!

Don't worry, Baltimore. Kyle Gibson was up to 3 innings on the backfields so reinforcements are coming.

Bro you know he’s gonna throw a 5 inning 2-hit shutout against us this weekend

Rockies just lost 17-2 to the Brewers. What an absolute dumpster fire than entire org is. It’s sad because it’s a great city/ballpark but the fans have no reason to show up to watch the garbage they put on the field.

I feel the same way. Great area and probably a top 10 sports city in the country but one of the worst run organizations in all of sports.
