That is steeeep for Burnes if true.

Fried got significantly more than he was projected to get, so this is probably the ballpark it needs to be to get done.

If it's even true, which it's probably not

The way things are going, seems about right to get him to come here.

I'm pretty down on Burnes. He's a workhorse - which counts for A LOT in today's game - but it's hard to ignore his declining K rate every single season since he won the Cy in 2021.

I think it's just pitch choices though

His velo isn't really down. Stuff still great.

Pitching to contact with the cutter

He's gonna go to the Giants so it doesn't matter.

...I too have confirmed that it might be 90% true.

Would not doubt the Jays offered 7 252 and Giants get him for 7 240.... but good for the Jays for helping these guys earn a bit more money...

Or maybe not. If you believe Jays beat reporters they are not playing this game, but the agents are just starting s***. Maybe Jays offerred 6 - 200, and agent started the 7 250 rumor to get him 7 240 from Giants.

Has HavokAndrew actually gotten anything right? I know he claims to have sources but he deserves purgatory if he’s wrong here like that kid from Boston

This. I would wager if the Giants are anywhere close, he is a Giant.

The “trend” in legit info I am seeing, would also support him going to the Giants.

Yeah I don’t believe this at all. Wouldn’t mind if it were true, especially if it’s followed up by a Bassitt trade (bad feeling he’s going to fall off hard next season), but I think Burnes ends up in SF.

That's possible. I'm just skeptical that in 2020-2021, he was really good (probably lucky) at suppressing home runs. That normalized and coupled with the drop in strikeouts, I find him somewhat concerning.

Not that he's going to be bad or maybe even mediocre, I just don't know if he'll be truly dominant again.

I had the same thoughts. He's using his objectively worst pitch (least whiffs/highest exit velos) too often. Perhaps it's a bit of a conscious choice to pitch longer into games by inducing contact but it's coming at the expense of strikeouts.

It might be 90% true that I'll be bouncing Sydney Sweeney's funbags tonight. Stay tuned.

As long as you put a bag over her head.

Yeah I feel like we've seen this countless times before. Float the Jays just to try to up the offer from the team going to sign him. Everything from the Jays beat reports suggest they wouldn't make an offer like that. They said they didn't even make an offer for Fried, so we think they are just going to offer 250M for Burnes?

Sounds like the Jays don't even have that much money to spend, unless Boras is negotiating with Ed Rogers directly.

30- 4 WAR

31- 4

32- 3.5

33- 3

34- 2.5

35- 2

36- 1.5

20.5 Total WAR across 7 years for 252 million.

Not sure this way of projecting works for pitchers since the injury risk is higher but that's 12 million per WAR. Seems high but I think that's where we are at these days.
