He was the AFL breakout player of the year. Boone calls him an absolute stud with great bat to ball skills. It is thought that the Yankees were comfortable with shipping Torres out because they thought Durbin could stick at 2b in 2025.

 

It's unsurprising for a manager to pump up a player that they don't really like and intend to trade. David Sampson was just saying how often teams do that on Blair & Barker the other day. I guess this is just proof that he is correct.

Bohm yes, Castellanos is f***ing terrible, so no. Bohm's statcast page is pretty rosey. Getting him for the right cost would be a good way to fill 3rd.

He hit 19 home runs last year. His xHR with the Orioles is just 6. With the Astros it's 26. I know he's a dead pull hitter but I've never seen anything like this.

Surely this is their Bregman replacement. Paredes is 25, has 3 more years of control, and is a perfectly average 3B defender. The Tucker move also signals they probably didn't want to increase their payroll substantially. Could be in play for mid-tier FAs but I think this signals the end of Bregman in Houston.

 

Cam Smith is also a 3B, so they may have just backfilled the position cheaply for 3-7 more years at least.

Youre right if they werent going to pay him but I think Astros fans would have preferred they just paid Tucker instead lol.

 

Figuring this out is something our current front office should be doing, which they still might.

That doesn't quite make sense... half his games are on the road... I guess the number of road games in different parks is different with different teams but shouldn't be that extreme.

I would love to get Suzuki from Chicago if he's on the market. If we can't get free agents to sign then trading for guys on market value contracts like him and Gimenez is a palatable option.

Pretty sure we just gotta overpay guys just like every other team has to do in free agency. I doubt Teo looked at us like he wouldn't comeback if we actually showed him we wanted him.

 

Just comes down to Shatkins not feeling comfortable overpaying guys on any longterm deals unless they truly LOVE the guy. Typically it's a good strategy if you have a good farm system but we all know the desperate position we're in.

This would be an asinine use of resources from the Astros if true. Rather pay Tucker 10/400 than Santander 5/100. Tucker is incredibly good.
