Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 1B Lowe 2B Semien SS Seager 3B Burger That's a lot of offense in that infield The middle infield is as good as any in the game, but Burger is exceptionally mid and Nate Lowe is basically Spencer Horwitz's ceiling. Burger does hit the ball very hard, so maybe the Rangers are hoping to unlock something with some tweaks, but he's also a brutal defender so he's more of a DH really.

Burger will get sprinkle play at the hot corners and most definitely will DH most of the time. Jung will be their primary 3rd baseman.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Seems at this point the GM is tripling down on Run Prevention and not willing to concede any mistake in direction. HeÂ’s made his stand and is ready to die on the hill. LetÂ’s see The 5D chess move here is clearly ensuring that Bassitt, Berrios and Gausman have 2 ERAs for the first few months into the year then somehow parlaying that through the trade market into Paul Skenes, Jackson Merrill and Jackson Chourio.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I feel strongly that the Jays should've made this deal with the Bucs. Than pass on the SP options and sign some power. Annoying. I want no part of Luis (Guaranteed) L. Ortiz (see what I did there?). He sucks Spanky.

Annoying. I really, really want to know if the Jays knew that the Guardians were planning on flipping him….
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 With Spencer Whorewhizz gone we could add a 1B/DH to the mix. If Alonso costs similar to what Santander does then perhaps he could be an option.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I really, really want to know if the Jays knew that the Guardians were planning on flipping him…. Sounds like it. It was the one scoop the Jays beat writers had this winter.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I really, really want to know if the Jays knew that the Guardians were planning on flipping him…. Well... I'm sure Cherington offered the same deal to Toronto, regardless.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Paredes and Suzuki For Kyle Tucker?

What's also a bit interesting is, I'm pretty sure Vladdy and Alonso have the same agent. If Atkins swoops in like a hero and saves Alonso's non-existent market (according to Passan), maybe that could help the Jays with Vladdy's negotiation wink wink.

Alonso can play 1B and DH and Vlad can be 3B and 1B. If Vlad plays more 3B I'm going to lie and tell myself that I'm fine with the 550 million dollar extension he's going to sign.

Guys we were talking about a 250 to 300 million extension midway through the season. Genuinely painful that 500 million is a real possibility now. Is there some blame on Atkins there for not moving fast enough to try and get a semi discount (maybe they should have seen that Vladdy could return to form)? Is this on Vladdy's inconsistency?

This is on Atkins, he should have been signed before any of this Soto stuff happened. Now he's thinking he'd be the belle of the ball during free agency next year, and he's right. Atkins is gonna have to pay him crazy money now. I get not signing him long term prior to last season because he had been struggling for a couple of years and it looked like his big year was a fluke, or a product of hitting behind Semien. Now it's clearly legit and as usual, Atkins is in danger of being the bridesmaid yet again.

There's clearly a difference in what Atkins & Co. view Vladdy's worth, and what Vladdy thinks he's worth. The more they waited to get a deal done, the more his stock went up. Realistically, they should have locked him up years ago.

Barrelsandbombs Verified Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Cashman did the same thing yesterday bailing on a MLB Tonight appearance, then the Yankees signed Max Fried. Red Sox are about to make a move. They've been in Burnes rumours, and also trade rumours involving Cease and Crochet.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Definitely looks like Kyle Tucker is going to get traded
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 In 2028, the Yankees will be paying 91M for Cole (37), Rodon (35) and Fried (34), with their respective ages that year in parentheses
Barrelsandbombs Verified Member Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Rosenthal says Burnes decision could come as early as today. Jays, Giants, Orioles and Red Sox still involved. Recent leaves are definitely pointing to the Red Sox though.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Red Sox are about to make a move. They've been in Burnes rumours, and also trade rumours involving Cease and Crochet. The Red Sox have "permanently the bridesmaid" vibes this winter. They missed on Soto, which is fair, hard to outbid BOTH New York teams. But the Yankees roundly cleaned their clocks on Fried. The BoSox fanbase is not impressed that they're just "putting together an offer" on Burnes right now.
