max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Given our upcoming schedule, the other teams would have to try to suck REALLY hard to keep us in this race. I can't actively root against my team, but I do feel that it might be best for our long-term future if we were to be knocked out of the race. I'm calling shenanigans on this post.
harvey16 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Any chance the Jays go after Brent Rooker? Maybe package Turner to get him?
Masterbather Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Probably. But any hopes for a burn-it-down type fire sale are misplaced. The suits would never authorize a Baltimore style tank job where you play .325 baseball for 4 years trying to nail those top picks. It doesn't make any sense given the Jays also wouldn't get the small market comp picks to really up their bonus pools. It's gonna be constant retooling, swinging trades, hitting on a few international signing and hoping you somehow start developing these picks from 15-20 The real rebuild has to happen in the development system starting with the right philosophy on what tools you want your guys to possess. The parade of "excellent contact, we'll try to teach them power later" is not working Fair enough, but I'm done with Atkins being in charge. At least let somebody else take over.

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Buzz off. My bad, I must have you confused with a different poster who has been calling for the front office to blow up the team since April.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 My bad, I must have you confused with a different poster who has been calling for the front office to blow up the team since April. I have been, how does that mean I'm actively rooting against my team?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I have been, how does that mean I'm actively rooting against my team? Because you don’t forge sample sizes based on arbitrary dates to illustrate how great Tim Mayza or Alejandro Kirk have been
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Any chance the Jays go after Brent Rooker? Maybe package Turner to get him? Justin Turner, no way?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Because you don’t forge sample sizes based on arbitrary dates to illustrate how great Tim Mayza or Alejandro Kirk have been What does that have to do with anything? All the recent bans must be rotting your brain as that's completely irrelevant to this particular conversation.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I have been, how does that mean I'm actively rooting against my team? It's not exactly rocket science. You are actively cheering for the team to be torn apart at the trade deadline. Literally the only way that is going to happen is of they play like s*** and fall out of the race completely.

Literally the only way that is going to happen is of they play like s*** and fall out of the race completely. The goal of every franchise is to win championships, I'm just being realistic about this team's chances with the current roster, I want them to win championships and thus I want them to rebuild. I still root for them every game, but naturally they lose many of them because they're not good enough, which was already known, hence the call for a rebuild in the first place. I root for them to win, but also acknowledge that if they lose it is likely best for our long-term prospects of winning championships because this is a flawed team with a paper thin farm system and spinning our wheels as a mediocre team is purgatory; we're not good enough to win and we're not moving backwards now to move forward later. If you don't understand that, fine.

I say my peace they say theirs Oh no I can’t post on a message board for a couple days what will I do??? Do I have to go outside and touch grass?

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Any chance the Jays go after Brent Rooker? Maybe package Turner to get him? I can't tell if you're being serious or joking. Even if joking, I don't get how it would it be funny. Rooker after 2024 will be arb eligible and still have 3 years of control left. He's looking like he could be a 30-40 HR type bat and possible 3-4+ WAR upside. He won't come cheap.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Jays are 32-10 (.762) when scoring at least 3 runs. That should be easier to capitalize on than it has been. 1/3 of MLB teams are averaging over 4.5 runs/game.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I wonder how many more runs we'd be scoring if Bo and Springer had OPS in the .700s instead of the low .600s?
BCZ Verified Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I wonder how many more runs we'd be scoring if Bo and Springer had OPS in the .700s instead of the low .600s? Bichette is exactly the same player he's always been he's just been unlucky: - HR/FB rate WAY down - BABIP down Springer has also been unlucky but eye test tells me his power is way down and that's a big concern.

Ok, so I wonder how many more runs the Jays would be scoring if Bo and Springer weren't so unlucky? Lol

Bichette is not pulling the ball as much as he did in his best seasons (down about 5% from his best offensive years). Not sure if it’s a shift in philosophy because sideburns joined the coaching staff and wants everyone driving singles the other way or related to something else.

His Pull% has decreased every single year since his rookie season. There's really nothing to suggest sideburns is having any impact on Bo's approach. Bo seems like quite a study of the game. I think he's in control of his own approach and swing.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I mean, isn’t this you now with your stuff going on? Except you just came back from a nice tropical vacation and you’re rocking a nice tan and rocking blue spandex. This is basically you showing up to that fight on Young and Blour corner, or wherever you talk about. I’d be like “oh s***, man.i didn’t know this. Fight is off and sorry to say mean things to you”
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Karens stick together, Maxy Pad. I can respect your loyalty. Who is the Karen here exactly? I'd reckon it's the dude who outright refuses to stop using an offensive word on these forums despite repeated warnings to stop doing so, and multiple bans for using the offensive word in question. Either he's a Karen or he's just too dumb to take a hint.
