Barrelsandbombs Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Apparently Francis is in the clubhouse too. He just threw 3+ innings in Buffalo so no point in adding him just yet but he could be ready as soon as tomorrow. Not sure who they will option for him. Genesis would get my vote. They could throw Burr a couple of innings and then option him too. Pop and Pearson are possibilities and I suppose Mayza could get the Swanson treatment. Mayza had 4y156d service time before the season started. 16 service days into the season he reached 5 years, so I think Mayza would need to consent to a minor league assignment now.

Barring some kind of continuous series of meltdown I see zero chance of Mayza being optioned down to Buffalo.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I know they'd like a lefty on the team but Pop/Pearson > Cabrera/Mayza. Cabrera should never play another game again (for the Jays). I agree. Pearson's underyling stats aren't bad and he throws 98. Pop looks decent as a one-pitch worm burner. Mayza has been getting it done but he is failing the eye test bad but he apparently can't be optioned without his consent anymore. Genesis has sucked his entire career so he's the guy I think.

The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I assume Sprain is good news early days, wait for the medical report. But I have to admit, he didn't look that bad in the last start. Not great, but he didn't look like his arm fell off.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I assume Sprain is good news Never, mate.

The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 His velocity was down 5 MPH... no bueno. I agree, but he wasn't rolling on the ground screaming and crying. 5 mph could be self-preservation. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the season's over and 10 being nothing more than a pimple, I think it could be better than 1.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 So this is the fourth Jays pitcher to go see Meister this season? Maroudis = TJS Barrierra = TJS Tiedemann = no TJS yet but hasn't pitched in over a month Manoah = TBD
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I assume Sprain is good news Nah, likely just a placeholder while they diagnose the injury

Usually it goes same as Manoah. Pitcher's velo is down, then he comes out of the game because he "felt something". Then later diagnosed with UCL tear/strain
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 but, but, but we have Mitch White in case an SP goes down.

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Mitch White was DFAd again at the perfect time Come on home, Mitchy

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Good news on RT... Would be brilliant if he could make a few starts for us down the stretch, maybe even by July or so

keggy Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Manoah was hurt in Detroit, a full turn in the rotation prior to his injury. An MRI can be scheduled within one day. I'm curious why they waited until after the fact to get an MRI.
