When is Ryu ready? Lol

Jays have no one to replace him with that's any good

Ryu and Green were both throwing bullpens this week. I'm thinking their timelines are mid-to late July or early August returns if no setbacks.

Injury? Just normal demotion.

Whether he's injured or not they'll still announce an injury to negate any negative connotations.

Casey Lawrence or Zach Thompson might be better at this point anyway.

Bowden Francis and Kloffenstein are probably the best guys who have a chance to stick but Francis is in A-Ball rehabbing and Kloff is in AA.

Zulu had a pretty clear path to being first in line for this scenario, but has pitched his way out of the Bisons rotation.

They can't keep trotting Manoah out there like this. It's embarrassing. Option him today or tomorrow or put him on the DL with an injury.

Today was brutal. He deliberately let the pitch clock tick down to 1 almost every pitch (for stamina reasons?? idk) and wasn't even trying to hinder the base runners from stealing. He finally got a few Ks but that's only because he was barely in the zone and had 5 walks as well.

I'd probably send him down for Zach Thompson but use Pearson or Richards as a bulk reliever that game too. After one or two games hopefully Francis is back and then they can DFA Thompson after he is inevitably shelled to make room on the 40 man.

If no one in the Minors is ready to come up for a few weeks then use BP days where Nate gets the opener and keep stretching him each start ( as long as he performs all right). Start Nate off with 3 inning’s and see if he can get to 5 or 6 eventually and use BP for the rest. He was originally a starter. Just one possibility.

Also, Nate ( a top ten mlb prospect as a starter at one point) might never get another chance to be a starter again if it doesn’t happen now. Imagine if we discover Nate is a solid mid rotation starter vs a solid 2 inning mid reliever. What a boost to value that could be.

Would it be better if he had more time, of course. But let’s be honest if he doesn’t start now he’s gonna get locked into relief pitching his whole career.

Stretching Nate now might be less of a stretch then using a minor leaguer who has never pitched in the majors yet

Yeah that might be worth a shot. He could break but he can probably already go 3 innings.

Sorry Nate, but you can't stay healthy long enough to get stretched out for a starting role. You're relegated to the pen buddy.

I mean with that logic maybe Springer should be a utility player lol.

In seriousness though you might be right. But let’s remember that he was healthy in the minors as a prospect and a starter so to say that his body just is incapable of handling that pitch count ever is unfair. Injuries are a

weird thing, not always predictive, sometimes just bad luck. However, that said of course if we think we’ll greatly jeopardize his entire career and health by stretching him out now then it’s a none issue. But only the BJ’s trainers know if that’s the case. I don’t have that information. All recommendations are always based on less than complete team knowledge. But if they think his health is ok now and it’s just a matter of stretching him out like any other pitcher. We know he’s fine for two innings already. Give him three to open and go from there.

Mitch White is probably better too

They need to make a decision before is next start: IL or AAA. He's not an MLB pitcher right now and it's hurting the team.

Bowden Francis is pitching right now for Buffalo and he's got 7 Ks through 4 innings with 0 ER allowed. Swamp him and Manoah.

Been a Manoah supporter but bravado is only cool when you’re good. Don’t let the door to Buffalo or Dunedin hit you in the ass on your way out the door.

Going from 2.33 BB/9 to 5.86 BB/9 suggests something is up, saying "he sucks" is a weak argument.

I dont know it looks like to me he is sweating a lot more than last year and today he let the pitch clock run all the way down to 1 or 2 almost every time without even checking on the runners. I see a lot of comments saying his weight, his cardio or the pitch clock are lazy excuses, but it could be that simple.

Something is definitely up .. his weight.

That wouldn't change much of anything unless he got diabetes or something... though even that is manageable... plus he looks the same to me... also look at a guy like CC Sabathia, didn't lose much ability while getting fatter and fatter.

Sabathia never had to adjust to a pitchclock. He averaged around 19 seconds between pitches which was even slower than Manoah was last year.

It's 100% the pitch clock and Manoah's cardio causing all of this.

The guy would get exhaust last season and would take extra time walking around the mound to gather himself and talk to a himself to stay in his mechanics. He can't do any do that now so can't gather his breath and continuously falls out of his mechanics.
