Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 I'm very curious myself how they plan to trade a free agent in the offseason Richards isn’t a free agent yet?? Learn the roster bro lol
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 We are 0.5 games back of the Mariners and 1 game behind the Astros. There's a chance the Astros to miss the playoffs.
keggy Verified Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 I don't understand why Manoah is still in TO instead of down in the pitching factory. Officially he is in Buffalo? Why paper him down to Buffalo at all if you aren't actually sending him there? Based on Buck and Dan's comments today there might be some friction between Manoah and management on where to go from here
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Based on Buck and Dan's comments today there might be some friction between Manoah and management on where to go from here Friction? Package his fat ass out of town.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Manoah refusing to report - get better dude it's all in you. Did he think he was going to cruise to a HOF like career .....swallow your pride, go to Buffalo and get in shape
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Based on Buck and Dan's comments today there might be some friction between Manoah and management on where to go from here I was trying to read between the lines on their comments also but I'm not sure yet if that's what they meant. Buck sure sounded disappointed that he hasn't been pitching, which I agree with, but that may have just been a soft shot at management. There needs to be a plan here. If he is refusing assignment he should have been suspended by now.
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 And reading further between the lines, it's pretty obvious now what happened on manoah's first trip to the minors. Guy just ain't it.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Based on Buck and Dan's comments today there might be some friction between Manoah and management on where to go from here Its ridiculous that we have guys like Manoah and Vlad (allegedly) disrespecting/disobeying the front office and coaching staff. I’d get rid of both of them
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 I have to defend the pick-up, it was an emergency situation and the team needed a legit experienced ss Exactly. Pretty cheap considering his production this year, and he had a pretty good history. But it didn't work out, and he seemed lost at the plate. Easy to say it was 'useless' in hindsight, after he went 3/50 or whatever.

I’d get rid of both of them Manoah always seemed like a pissy and entitled *******! Geez own up that you suck this season, go down to the minors and work things out! What a douche!

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 If Manoah really is not reporting to Buffalo its time to just cut ties with him. If he isn't willing to work on himself. It's not worth having him in the organization. Good luck somewhere else.
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Attitude aside, he’s just another bad pitcher developed by this org anyway. Cut your losses. What losses? He is costing the Jays nothing while playing in the minors. If he wants to figure things out, he'd have to try that in the Jays farm system until he is out of options.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Would be nice if our supposed-to-be-star players didn’t have chronic cases of truancy. Seriously f*** these clowns.

Unless you count a pear as a shape.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Vlad is now slashing .265/.343/.432 on the season. KK isn’t much worse at .270/.330/.417.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Based on Buck and Dan's comments today there might be some friction between Manoah and management on where to go from here Compare it to the Orioles who sent Tyler Wells down with superficial numbers (3.80 ERA almost 9 Ks per inning) that look fine, and Bryan Baker too who looks fine. Honestly not sure what the story is... especially with Tyler Wells. Numbers game? Working on things? Some attitude thing that they are keeping in house? Whatever it is these guys are at least down in the minors putting their work in. I guess in Baker's case it's just typical releiver movement when everyone is healthy, he is good but not great. Wells is (outwardly) a little stranger. A guy whos numbers look good for a starter, for a team that needs starters, but sent down anyway.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Based on Buck and Dan's comments today there might be some friction between Manoah and management on where to go from here Its hard to believe Sportsnet kicked off the a season with Manoah and Hazel Mae:'Alek Manoah: Obsessed,' a six-part series documenting pitcher's path to Blue Jays. Baseball is a tough game. Manoah has to work and fight his way back.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Based on Buck and Dan's comments today there might be some friction between Manoah and management on where to go from here That was odd yesterday. You'd think he'd be down there getting some more innings. Just admit you came into camp 50 pounds heavier and did no work in the offseason.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Manoah = Stroman Little man and fat f*** syndrome I don't think so One has a chip on his shoulder and works very hard The other has a family sized bag of chips in his belly at any given time
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 DeJong was a completely useless pickup Might as well have just played Espinal They both suck I would have kept Dejong over Espy. He is better defensively and although his bat sucked in a short stint for us, he is a better bat than Espy. At least has a track record of more pop upside. Also, who knows if Bo gets a tweak again to his injury and a bit of a setback. DeJong provided that insurance.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Vladdy needs a 10 day IL stint I agree, bring up Horowitz and give him a look. Maybe the time off and a Horowitz hot streak (?) Helps motivate Vlad to have a consistent game plan and approach when he returns.

Or we get some other #5 type. I don't want to guarantee Manoah a spot beginning 2024. He absolutely should have to earn it.

If Manoah had that work ethic he’d probably still be in the big league rotation and actually contributing to it.

At least has a track record of more pop upside. This is insane. In what way is he a 'better bat' than Espinal? Espinal posted 99 and 115 wRC+ hitting the previous two seasons. You have to go all the way back to 2019 to find an even remotely similar hitting season from DeJong (101 wRC+). They are both horrible this season, but Espinal at least has recent performance to point to. DeJong has more "pop upside", but he is also posting 30%+ strikeout rates both this season and last season. His batting averages the past three seasons: .197, .157, .211. He is NOT a "better bat" than Espinal.
