No s***, there's a lot of ball to be played and the team does need to improve, I'm speaking about the post I attached with all the fellating of what we're going to be up against, we've all known this wasn't going to be easy, never is. Just cause we're *barely hanging on to a post season position*, doesn't mean the Birds don't deserve respect, we're a good f***ing team.

You’re reading way to much into that post. We have not seen the best of the Astros yet and people are way to quick to dismiss the Yankees. Jays have been remarkably healthy. Going to need to continue to play well and improve to both make the playoffs and win a game in said playoffs. Something they haven’t been able to do the last 2 trips.

I can agree with this. :P

I don't pull a jaysblue, I'll name them, Jonn, Jays333, Masterbather, we good.

I never said were not good enough. I fully believe this team hasn't even clicked on all cylinders yet. We could catch TB at this point which seemed completely unrealistic a month ago. Im just saying that making the playoffs is not at all going to be an easy task given the teams involved. I also didn't know "The playoffs will be easy to make" was a meme, I thought he was serious lol.

FYI for some: "The playoffs will be easy to make" is a 10+ year old meme from the old mesaage board. When posted it is usually being used in jest.

I wonder what ever happened to East Coast Jays Fan. That dude was a machine in his prime. He posted even more than Spanky.

Every time I see that 7-20 vs the division record my blood boils little lol

Even a meager 13-14 in the division has the Jays right up there with the Rays and Os

A tad frustrating haha

Jays are 7-20 inside the division. I don’t think anyone fears them lol. Wanting to see the roster improve is not a defeatist post lol. A lot of Baseball to be played and the Jays like a lot of teams should be looking to get better.

Clearly we don’t fear the Braves whatsoever, spanked their asses easily already. WS Jays/Braves is basically an automatic W

Jays have been healthy yes, but getting extreme underperformance from quite a number of key guys, Vlad/Kirk/Varsho/Manoah/2B

Yup. Just the f***ing Redsox and Os have changed our season from looking ELITE to Pretty Good

Jays win 8 of their last 9 and sweep an an NL West team fighting for division supremacy and we have dildo's still talking about how we're not good enough. Insufferable.

So if I say we aren't good enough when we're losing, I'm just overreacting, if I say we're not good enough when we're winning, I'm apparently a dildo. When am I, and others "allowed" to point out the obvious flaws with this team?

Our offense is predictably worse, our defense is predictably better. Our pitching isn't good enough. Exactly what I've been saying from the beginning. Nothing has changed.

For the payroll we have, and the prospect capital we have used, we should be fielding a better team than we currently are.

Hey remember you told me you felt Varsho was turning the corner after about a 10-15 days of him being moderately good in June and I felt it was probably a fluke? How's that going? Has he turned that corner yet?

The fate of the 2023 Blue Jays will be decided from September 15 onwards. We play the Bosox, Yankees and the Rays to end the season. Going to be a hell of a ride. Enjoy it.

They are going to have to play well in the division down the strech or its not going to happen for them.

Jays schedule continues to be among the easiest in MLB until Sept 15.

Look at this 12 game stretch starting on August 28 against the only 4 sub .400 WPCT teams in MLB.

Nationals

@ Rockies

@ Oakland

Royals

I don't think any of the other contenders have this many games left against the sub .400 teams. Some of them are already done playing them entirely. Those teams might be even worse after the deadline too.

Want to see a ton of wins here while our division and WC rivals have to play each other... During that particular stretch the other AL East teams are mostly playing each other or against the Astros and Twins so that's excellent.

They should go a minimum of 10-2 on that strech. Especially post trade deadline. Those teams will be bleeding for talent.

The offense has scored a grand total of 6 runs less than the offense from a season ago. The biggest concern has been weak situation hitting with runners in scoring position, just as was the case a season ago. There are signs the tides are starting to turn with this particular issue.

The team's run differential is +44 at this point, vs +24 after 93 games a season ago. This run differential is largely on the back of an elite defence and really good pitching staff. The bullpen in particular is a strength of this club right now. The team has a very solid 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation as well, but the pitching isn't good enough somehow?

This team has the 6th best record in all of MLB. They have absolutely clobbered weak teams the way they are expected to. They have obliterated MLB as a whole save for struggling against against the Red Sox and Orioles. The team has dominated the National League, dismantling a lot of hot teams and division leaders along the way. This is a really damn good team that deserves more respect than they are receiving.

We have a number one pitcher, and then three fours and fives. What we have is a very good team, what we don't have is a world series contender. Same story as last year. The only starter I trust in a playoff game is Gausman. He's a stud. Then we got a bunch of hold your breath. Bullpen is good, bullpen was good by the end of last year too if you recall, fool's gold as they imploded because they're not great. There's regular season good and then there's playoff good.

I never said this was a bad team, I said it was maybe a playoff team because I knew that the competition would be tougher this year, and definitely not a world series winning team. Some teams have had poor health, that's the only thing that gives us a chance. That doesn't make us a better team that just makes us lucky and them very unlucky.

Our pen and SP has been leaps and bounds better than last season, along with our D, run prevention is far better, not to mention a good offensive team, you're f***ing lost somewhere out on an island, bro. You don't make sense? And are very annoying. Just saying...

You only need to convince yourself man. If you can look at this rotation and think that it's good enough to win a world series I don't know what to tell you. It's soft. It's mediocre after Gausman. As currently constructed it would be one of the weakest rotations we've ever taken to the playoffs.

Bullpen has good arms, nothing elite, I don't expect Chad Green to change the complexion of things drastically. I'm sure as a group, the regular season numbers will look fine, I'm sure that'll be enough to convince you. You probably believed in last year's bullpen as well. Maybe with a great rotation this bullpen could get it done but with a weak rotation forget about it.

The only if that can make a difference is IF Ryu could return to his past glory, that may give us a legitimate shot in the arm. It definitely changes the calculus, but that's a lot to ask at this point in his career coming off surgery.

Berrios is a 4/5 ???

Berrios is a 4/5 ???

Obviously pitcher with the 28th highest WAR in baseball is a 4/5 pitcher. Try to keep up please. He's only as good as scrubs like Ohtani, Nola, Castillo and McClanahan.

I've been thinking this, and about how I'm going to try and enjoy it lol.

O's and TB "its early" banked Ws loom large. I don't expect TB to crater same as Yanks in '22 bent but didnt break.

Its going to be crazy WC ride of highs and lows for a 4/5 teams. One really bad or really good 10 game stretch could be the diff its so tight.

I mean it’s an understandable viewpoint…when you have a guy that’s pitched like a solid 2, borderline 1 but non-ace for 6 of 7 seasons, that equals a 4/5 pitcher.

What’s really gross is that likely we’re going to see 2 or even possibly 3 teams with top 10 mlb w/l records not make the playoffs.

Going by WAR, Berrios is a low tier #1. He's returned to his career norms, so should be a good #2 going forward. It's looking like last year was just one of those years.

I'd call Bassit is a high variance #3.

Last year's bullpen was a decent enough pen that had one bad game at a really inopportune moment. This year's bullpen is much better across the board right now.

This team has a tremendous bullpen, and you could easily make a case that it's an elite pen. It ranks 4th by ERA, 6th by FIP, 4th by K/9, 3rd by BB/9 etc. The pen was brought down a lot by weak performances by the likes of Cimber and Bass and a slow start from Garcia, but has improved a lot as the season has progressed. The impending addition of Chad Green is going to improve this pen further, as if Green is anywhere close to as good as he has been historically it adds one of MLB's best firemen to a pen, adds another trustworthy high leverage reliever, and removes the weakest link from bullpen at the same time.

I hate this type of defeatist attitude that the current iteration of the Jays is only good because the opposition has faced injuries. There is a certain subset of the fanbase that absolutely refuses to give any credit to a Blue Jays team when it succeeds. It can't be because the team is good, it can only be because the opposition has dealt with more injuries than the Blue Jays.

I wonder what Manoah we'll see tonight. His velocity in his last start still wasn't back up to where it should be.

Hopefully he is locating great again at least and gives us a shot to win. Very tough matchup for his 2nd game back
