Wow. They have so many Anthony Bass threads and this board has none, though when I came back from lunch this thread was like 5 new pages of Anthony Bass in 20 minutes and I was like what happened? Did they get jealous of all the Anthony Bass threads on Reddit and felt the need to keep up? Then I realized he got DFA'd over lunch.

All I notice is that non-baseball influence and annoying politics is making decisions. White is not better than Bass. He couldn't get AAA hitters out so why will he be any good up here. Stankyleg and I are merely pointing out the obvious, that the league is made up of shitloads of American southern baseball players who are religious. And one of them just got the axe from the Blue Jays for simply liking a video could become the narrative.

 

Help me understand then - perhaps over DM. I'm honestly not sure how I injected my own personal beliefs into this. I fully understand there are LOTS of religious baseball players. What Bass did provide support to those who aren't accepting of other groups/views - citing his religion. I'm curious what % of Christians share that view and also do not show acceptance to other groups. I didn't think it was a large %, but I could be wrong. This shouldn't' be that difficult to grasp.

I do wonder if the Jays had to s*** or get off the pot with White. His allowable rehab time in AAA had come to an end, and they cited another injury (arm fatigue maybe?), which perhaps bought them more time to leave him in AAA. They may have caught some flack over that and were required to make a move with him?

 

No matter how s***** he was in AAA, he's under control until 2027 and thus simply wasn't an asset the Jays were going to let go. Certainly not over a 35 year old, s***** reliever who's a FA at the end of the year.

LOL I was just thinking the same thing. Anyway, Bass has been DFAd and they have reinstated White. Bass's pitching has been terrible and Whites rehab outings have been awful, however White can throw multiple innings which are quite valuable at times even though its a blow out. So I would go with White as well.

This is certainly not a baseball move, given that they obviously caved to public pressure from radical LGBT activists.

 

That being said, it's probably not hugely detrimental to the team. Bass hasn't been great and we have some interesting relief arms to bring up. I'm happy to be rid of the distraction.

I like his answer because it's the truth. No matter what you think of Bass, he's one of the last relievers in the pecking order and White needed to be added soon anyway. Bass was supposed to catch the first pitch tonight so they couldn't say that it was 100% a baseball move and Atkins didn't as he admitted that the distraction played a part in this. This settles it.
