BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 37 year old Matt Carpenter raking for SDP from the Left side. 144 wRC+ Praying for a renaissance period starting for 35 year old Brandon Belt anytime now. Hard to believe he never got an AB yesterday while Espy hit against RHP in a critical PA.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Maybe that wanted to give him a full day off for maintenance. I dunno.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 This has to be pretty much it for Espinal. He's been a complete noodle at the plate, can't have him costing us defensively as well. Has to be a MI out there more deserving of that playing time.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Swear to god, Espinal tried to get jacked before 2022 so he could hit for some power but becoming a bit muscle bound f***ed up his defense and speed significantly.

But man he has 1 real job on this team and thats to play elite D. Nobody can be perfect but to stick when you just can't hit RHP, you have to make routine plays pretty close to automatic.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Don’t forget Espinal was an all star last year. The broadcast has only told me 12x this season
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 This dude's a twitter troll mostly, but he puts up some funny s*** once and a while...

Is it just me or does it always look like he's running in a way that; slike squeezing his buttcheeks together to keep a s*** from falling out?
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Last season the Jays went 16-3 against the Red Sox Outscoring them 125 to 55 Hopefully we still have their number and continue to f*** their s*** up royally, starting today.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Meh Ump Scorecard only shows 0.89 favor to SEA. Should've been 5, including the K that should've ended the game against Crawford.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Jays have the hardest schedule across the league in May. Fun times ahead!

The bat has looked better the last couple weeks for him. He’s still a great bench piece but he has to clean up the D. Can’t be making errors on routine plays as a bench guy.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 I’m expecting this to be a very high scoring series.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 I was going to say we should call up Otto Lopez aka Captain Canada for one of our infield bench bums but he has a .450 OPS in over 80 PA's in AAA right now. Yikes.
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Hopefully they can do some damage off Kluber today At least he's not the cy young he once was. I mean he's still Kluber but I don't think he breaks 90mph these days and relies soley on chasing outside the zone. Mark Buerhlesque, albeit right handed. Hopefully he hangs a few meatballs.

He's looked terrible so far this year. I expect him to go 7 scoreless against the Jays tonight.

He's looked pretty washed this year...of course he gave the Rays a dead cat bounce last year for 3.0 fWAR but now that he's no longer in a competent org it seems his age and injury history has totally caught up to him. The stuff is good enough to still get chases, but if it's the zone it's been getting hammered.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 What do you guys think it takes to keep Chappy around? 5/110? 5/125 would be minimum.... he'd likely want more both term and $$
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 5/125 would be minimum.... he'd likely want more both term and $$ Depending on what kind of season he ends with I could see someone paying close to $30m AAV

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 6 or 7 years? It's possible...I'm thinking more likely 5 though.
