22 makes a difference in some places if it the age of consent is 16 or 18. I think 22 can date 16 yr olds, but a 24 yr old they need to be 18.

 

Don’t know anywhere 14 is ok.

I feel this in general is more common than people think. Girls I want to High School with were like 15 and 16 dating dudes in their 20's. A lot of Seniors also date Freshman. Not a huge variance but its often 14 and 18.

 

I don't think his career is going to end because of this or anything. Is it f***ed up absolutely. He's not going to Jail though.

I was under the impression this happened in the past not recently. If that's the case he has no defense.

 

Even if she lied about her age.

Most countries in South America is 14 without looking. Half the US is 16. Don’t know what’s so shocking, Germany Italy and others 14-15

These types of age rules at around the high school age can be a little bit confusing and most people don't even really pay attention to them at that age.

In high school we had a 19 and 14, back when high school was 5 years. The 14-year-old developed nice honkers early. I was 16 when they started dating, so I was well within my right to look at her honkers🙂. From what I understand this was just barely legal, not that I think anyone checked or cared.

 

22 and 14 pushes beyond what most people would consider comfortable boundaries.

Take the law out of it and look at it from a business point of view because right or wrong (and wrong is always the answer), MLB and the Rays are going to take a business point of view on this.

 

As long as old American men don't think it is their daughters it is happening to, they probably won't care (and will ignore it by making statement like "it is common in the Caribbean" even though they never left their county.

 

The way the DR protects their baseball players, this can easily get buried (as will all future girls speaking). And MLB can't start pretending they care about young Domincans, when they have let so much shady stuff go on for years

MLB can start to care anytime they want to start to care. Again, it's business, if this becomes a story that gets a lot of traction they will "care". For how many years did Major League baseball look the other way on domestic abuse or sexual abuse? When society forces them to "care", they "care".

 

Not that I want to single out MLB, that's the way it's always been pretty much everywhere. Nobody really cares until they are forced to.

I understand some of the logic - tough to lure big name FAs to Toronto at the time and the Marlins after going on a huge spending spree wanted to blow it up after a year. AA probably saw an opportunity. As well, its not like any of those prospects or players moved amounted to anything much.

 

The organizational depth on this team right now is awful lol. Again its crazy how you're such an apologist for this front office.

 

This should trigger you and your other homers: AA was a better GM and baseball mind during his time in Toronto than Atkins has been.

 

What do you mean by this? Do you mean across all levels in that the farm system isn't overly strong right now? You aren't talking about the ML level are you?
