I'm sure they'll look at all LHH OF but I would imagine the best case outcome is to bring in a true CF who hits from the left side.

Not a ton of FA options either way

Benintendi is kind of fugly / boring

Yea. Atkins will go with the flashy moves. Moreno for Carroll. Then sign Rondon using the savings from Teo.

They probably tried for the last 3 weeks to trade Jansen for that RP they needed and finally just couldn’t deal with all the phone hang ups. I get it in that case

What the f*** are you talking about? All teams suffer when they get stuck with s***** long term risky deals. Give the price of top relivers, I MUCH prefer the Jays identifying someone they think can be a stud out of the bullpen who has good control and doesn't cost $10-$12M per year.....especially when it appears the market for corner OFers won't be nearly as hot (because it rarely, if ever is). This is a much better use of resources - even if relivers are volatile.

Would loved to suffer once we actually accomplished something. Suffering before we even won a single postseason game is hard to digest... especially when you trade one of my favourite players for a bullpen arm with very little track record. Let's see how we use the freed up money and position...

Traded away to another medium market team on the rise that just beat us lol

Nimmo would be a great get but I think we would be bidding against both NY teams so it would have to be an overpay. Why not go after Benintendi instead? That’s more of an Atkins type move. Benintendi would be a good fit.

Benintendi blows. Aim higher.

If we get 2022 Swanson going forward, this is an awesome trade IMO

Plus now we get to see how they go about replacing Teo in the OF, I don't see any internal options so it'll likely be a FA signing or trade.

LOL. Jansen is at least 3 times more valuable than Teo. If they are trading Jansen, it is for good OF like Nootbar.

We won the trade lmao

2.4 WAR 1 year left player who is a declining fielder and needs to be at DH more for a 1.7 WAR 3 years left rising RP who could immediately help our backend BP situation

If we fill in RF with another positive player its a net positive in the deal without adding in the prospect.....

Don’t need to “win” the trade, I think it was a fair trade for both teams really

Brandon Nimmo is Dexter Fowler change my mind

Nimmo is a level above Fowler, but I see the comparison. Fowler was good until his age 32 season - so just sign Nimmo to a 2 year $40M deal - problem solved!

I love how the Toronto front office just does not give a f*** what fans think lol

They probably should considering they have 0 postseason wins in like 7 years since they've been here lol.

One important thing that is being overlooked is that Macko is Canadian. Anytime we can add a player from Canada to the team, you do it, no matter the cost.

Can't wait for all the Romano/Pop/Macko montages lol

I don't see the logic for the M's at all, unless they have zero confidence they could land a similar bat in free agency for comparable money. I guess maybe they felt they wouldn't get a better bat without having to make a long term commitment? Giving up cost controlled assets, including one that excelled at the MLB level this past season - seems short sighted at this point of free agency.

I love Teo and will miss him, but it's pretty easy to see why this was an astute asset management move for the Jays. They can likely easily pivot and use the salary savings towards another OF in free agency and wind up with a net positive this year, plus the years of control on these arms.

On a one year deal, I'd gladly take a shot on a left handed hitter like Brantley or Conforto. Benintendi isn't the most sexy option, but he provide some value with the bat and GG corner defense. On a three year deal or so, I could get behind it.

For a cost controlled option, a little off the radar but I like Jake McCarthy from Arizona. He's a bit blocked there by Carroll but has shown he can hit from the left side. Tremendous value on the basepaths. Not sure what to make of the defense as it appears he faired very well in CF but poorly in the corners in a larger sample. Controlled all the way through 2029.

Teo is going to put up like 1.5 fWAR in 550 PA, not get offered a QO, sign in Miami for like 3/40, and fade into oblivion with Avisail Garcia.

Sounds like Macko is fairly sought after. Baseball America’s scouting report on Macko notes that he was one of the Mariners’ most sought-after targets in recent trade talks. He's a lefty with a plus-plus curve (70 grade), and hits 98mph on his fastball.

Jays fans talking about trading for an unproven releiver...then slot him behind Romano like he's a sure thing.

I'm confident that we have enough offense right now to make the playoffs. Work on the pitching and get your OF'er in the bargain bin.

For a GM in any league or sport - listening to fans is the quickest way to get fired.

Teo will absolutely get qualified so they'll either get him for another year or a great pick.

Now I know why Lukes was added to the 40...

He better never factor onto this roster unless its an emergency call up.

If nothing else this move allows you to move Springer to RF so you can get bring in a legit CF. And you hope Kirk is the right trade piece to get that done.
