Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2023 Posted May 23, 2023 Yankee fans are obsessed with Jays. Read their reddit once in awhile, and even when they arent playing the Jays they are still mouthing off. So true. They think we are obsessed with them but I really think it's them who are obsessed with us.
keggy Verified Member Posted May 23, 2023 Posted May 23, 2023 Id be on board, unfortunately Gibby has pretty much stated he knows he wouldn't fit in today's game with a lot of the numbers and direction on which moves to make and when coming from above. Imagine Atkins and his limp handshake trying to tell Gibbons how to run a bullpen.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2023 Posted May 23, 2023 Those pricks are Yankee fans. Yeah but any Schneider slander is ok in my book, even if it's from Yankees fans.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Imagine Atkins and his limp handshake trying to tell Gibbons how to run a bullpen. I laughed pretty hard at this.
mphenhef Verified Member Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Imagine Atkins and his limp handshake trying to tell Gibbons how to run a bullpen. Pretty certain he was by the end of his tenure.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Imagine Atkins and his limp handshake trying to tell Gibbons how to run a bullpen. I mean - that's funny and all, but it seemed pretty obvious that Gibby bought into the advanced statistics and learned how to manage a bullpen significantly better in his 2nd go around with the Jays. It turns out that not every old guy from Texas is a complete bumpkin who can't learn new things.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Gibby has more knowledge in bullpen management contained within the very tip of his pinky than Atkins and all of his computers have combined.
BuffaloWings Verified Member Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Jays win % this year is exactly where it was when Montoyo was fired last season. With how bad both the pitching and the offense has been this year both the Coach and the GM's jobs should be on the line. In particular, with Jansen, Kirk, and Varsho all slumping at the plate the Moreno trade looks terrible.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 damnit - the ass hats are still lurking around here...
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Can someone start the fire Atkins thread? This team is unwatchable right now...
TorontonianJD Verified Member Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Thinking about it…. Shapiro won’t fire Schneider. Because then he’d be admitting to two mistakes or failures. Montoyo and Schneider. So the logical move would be Atkins. But will Shapiro do this to his little boy wonder?

The replacement is in house with James Click, so if he feels it's time, he can pull the trigger and not lose any time with processes.

fan44 Verified Member Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Why was Charlie Montoya fired in the first place? He had a good connection with many of the Latin players especially Vlad. Cito without opening a can of worms managed with two world series and had an excellent relationship with his more diverse team. The jays seems lest diverse that in the past. I heard it said once that the Jays will never win another world series because of the way Cito Gaston was treated as a black manager. I do not know about that, but talk of a curse is still out there. I hope that is not the case.

fan44 Verified Member Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Tell him to bring back Cito Gaston out of retirement and good luck with that. But that said, I have seen older managers in my time.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 I heard it said once that the Jays will never win another world series because of the way Cito Gaston was treated as a black manager. Stroman tweet?
tossingthiscoin Verified Member Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Do it right now before it gets too late. This moron makes too many bullpen management mistakes and it costs the team way too much. It's time to fire this guy like we did with Montoyo.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Can we change this thread to fire Atkins?? Because clearly these moves aren’t being decided by John. Its the same mistakes Charlie would make over and over. Its Atkins

Baseball decisions come from upper management.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Easy guys. Atkins is not making in-game decisions. That's on the weiner man.

Its the same mistakes Charlie would make over and over. Its Atkins Agreed. Charlie was an easy target but the front office clearly wanted someone to follow whatever analytics they have, so whether it’s Charlie or Schneider or someone else entirely, the way the roster is managed will be relatively the same. I’ve said before, James Click is already on the payroll. It’s not like they will need a long search. Will probably have to wait until the off season because it will be easier to make that move though.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Easy guys. Atkins is not making in-game decisions. That's on the weiner man. Idk, mate... I'm seeing a lot of Chuckles in Shneids, same mistakes, it's looking like it's analytics. Most teams use analytics now, but this feels like it's badly scripted. lol
