Alpha-kins will come away with both Shohei Ohtani AND Juan Soto and we'll all s*** ourselves.

Just send them the entire Buffalo team.

This is a great idea actually. Just send them everyone in Buffalo and then promote everyone else in the org an entire level. The DSL team or whatever the hell it is will be empty but just sign thirty 16 year old Dominicans this winter. All the prospect nerds will whine about it but no one will be able to hear them after we celebrate Juan Soto batting leadoff for the defending World Series Champs.

No Jays mention.... I wonder if Atkins is doing another Miami Marlins blockbuster lol.

This tweet just ruined my night. I held out hope we had a chance here :(

100% in favor of bringing in Thor

The more I think about it, he's actually a very good fit. Typically a guy who is very hard to lift the ball against, should come cheap, and has the potential to find another gear. I'm not even sure there's a lot of difference between him and Montas over the course of the remaining 10 ish starts. Energize the fan base, energize the team by bringing in a big name, and don't mortgage the future for a year when the odds are stacked against us anyway.

Thor + Robertson + another good reliever would make me very happy with the deadline.

Thor + Iglesias + cash

For some stuff

I can’t see Atkins trading for Iglesias with the amount of money/years he has left on his deal.

We are probably going to end up being surprised at who the Jays acquire because a lot of the talked about targets have been moved. The Dodgers haven’t done anything yet either so I’m sure it’s an issue with Soto more than anything. The moment Soto is traded, if he is at all, then we will probably see some movement.

Someone please wake up Ross Standing Patkins with a cup of coffee. The Yankees have already made a half dozen trades and the two best players in baseball are on the block.

Ross is out for his morning power walk

He will return phone calls after he has his Ovaltine

He’s probably at the Apple Store getting his computer worked on. What a nerd.

Thor and Robertson sounds pretty realistic too, although the Dodgers haven’t done anything yet, and I could easily see them pivot to some of the Jays targets if they fail on Soto.

I don't know. Will be an interesting day.

Last year we miss the playoffs by a game. '22 we won't catch the Yanks for the Div but have a strong shot at home wildcard, which could work with the right additions.

Yanks were good and got incrementally better. TB got better. Astros got Vasquez in a big move. SEA got much better for a 2/3 wildcard with Castillo. A lot of whats being suggested by guys is depth and marginal improvement. 37 yr old Robertson and spent Thor. I guess.

Ross Atkins currently in line at the Apple Store getting his computer fixed so he can return emails. Back in my day we had a GM named Pat Gillick who traded for a guy named Rickey Henderson and that was before the internet or emails were even a thing.

Someone go get Ross from the Apple Store and hand him a phone, a Rolodex and a pot of coffee please

As speculated:

The Blue Jays are “making a play” for Angles starter Noah Syndergaard, tweets Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Blue Jays Nation’s Brendon Kuhn was first to report the club’s contact with the Halos. Jon Morosi of MLB.com tweets that the Jays, Braves and previously-reported Phillies were among the teams with recent interest in Syndergaard, although he notes that Atlanta’s acquisition of Jake Odorizzi could take them out of the market.

An impact left handed bat would be nice to have for sure, but who should come out of the lineup to facilitate this type of addition? There haven't been a lot of available names listed that fit this team. Happ would be a nice get but Gurriel and Teoscar have both been mashing for several months. Josh Bell has had a great season but Kirk has been the team's most productive hitter as a whole and Vlad is the most talented hitter on the team so I can't see taking either of these guys out of the lineup.

I totally get the point. Fair. But whats now isn't necessarily going to continue at this pace. We know Teo and LGJ are capable of going into prolonged slumps, and an impact LHH could be used to improve match ups against certain pitching. Also, Springer's status is really unknown and the loss of his bat consistently in the line up would sting.

I have been saying this for weeks. Our strength is ability to take on $$ I believe. Which is good for Iglesias, but sucks because Mahle isn’t vaccinated and Cincinnati is a team we could eat bad contracts with..

Exactly why Syndergaard and Iglesias makes sense

With the fact that they’re so risk adverse, cheap in terms of spending historically speaking with Rogers and what everyone will make next year and the fact that now teams don’t even like their prospect system - If we see anything today, it’ll be lame duck moves like Drew Smyly and Michael Fulmer. Prepare to be angry/disappointed
