Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Wow So the Padres legendary farm system is basically no more. All spent, save for Campusano and Gore. Gore is included too now. Wow
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I say the Padres got off light... They have Tatis and others that can play SS... Abrams is excess.. Hassel just another OF spec and a few pichers.. For Soto and Bell. I would do that deall all day all night... They robbed Washington. The package should have several other 40 or 45 FV prospects... Edit NVM lol Gore and more makes it good haha. Should have waited.

San Diego will send back rookie shortstop C.J. Abrams, top outfield prospect Robert Hassell III, right-hander Jarlin Susana and top outfield prospect James Wood, according to Morosi. 10:43am: The Padres are “on the verge” of acquiring Juan Soto from the Nationals, tweets Jon Morosi of MLB.com. He adds that talks are in their “final stages.” Discussions between the
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I would be so pissed if Jays did nothing. We hear after the fact with ownership something like with 300 million in renovations on tap no money to add to the team ********!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Soto and Josh Bell? Damn. Most prospects fail, so Padres made out really well here. At least 2.5 years of Soto/Tatis/Machado.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Lol HOSMER is the final piece?!?! Wtf are Nats doing
BlueJaysFever Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 That is basically all of San Diego’s highest rated prospects. Wow.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 How do you not get at least one good, young major leaguer when you trade a 23-year old on a HoF trajectory? Edit: I guess Gore is in the deal too.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 AND HOSMER?!@!@! (Not confirmed by either team yet but wtf)
BlueJaysFever Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Wait, how did they manage to dump Hosmer? Surely the Padres are eating salary there
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I feel bad for the Mariners; they could've f***ing matched that deal and got two offensive powerhouses instead of Castillo. Actually lol.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Hosmer is a salary dump and part of the cost of these deals... Exactly what I want the Jays to leverage...
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I don't know anything about Woods or Susana, but quick Fangraphs and Twitter scouting tells me they might be legit. This is about as good a prospect haul as you could expect.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I feel bad for the Mariners; they could've f***ing matched that deal and got two offensive powerhouses instead of Castillo. Actually lol. Both Abrams and Hassell, and arguably Gore are > Marte
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Wait, how did they manage to dump Hosmer? Surely the Padres are eating salary there No, the Nats eat salary as part of the deal if they want all those specs...
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Delete the Nats by moving them back to Montreal. Garbage trade
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I don't know anything about Woods or Susana, but quick Fangraphs and Twitter scouting tells me they might be legit. This is about as good a prospect haul as you could expect. Wood so far is a monster. I have him in BORED
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Please Hosmer decline the trade
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Now let's see how the Dodgers respond lol Pablo Lopez to the blue in 1, 2, 3....
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Both Abrams and Hassell, and arguably Gore are > Marte Prolly but they could've added Kirby, hell even threw in Kelenic. Mariners need offense; their pitching can hold its own in a playoff series.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I still can't wrap my head around being so inept that you have to trade a future HoFer at 23 years old.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Please Hosmer decline the trade Lol imagine
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I know Atkins and Shapiro talk about a sustainable winning team each year but making playoffs every year and not going for it at some point just means they are more about job security then rolling the dice. Give credit to Alex A he had balls in Toronto and Atlanta and that is what sets him him apart from them, his assessment of prospects is more accurate then most GM’s. For every 10 prospects in an organization only 2 become impactful players. You get close to championship calibre team you trade up and let go the prospects!!!
metafour Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I don't know anything about Woods or Susana, but quick Fangraphs and Twitter scouting tells me they might be legit. This is about as good a prospect haul as you could expect. James Wood is an absolute monster. He looks like Aaron Judge so far. He was a ~Top 10 talent in his draft class before having an ugly senior season. The Padres still paid him $2.6 mill to sign. His tools are through the roof, and so far he's absolutely mashing.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Also, Soto and Tatis are on the same team. And Manny Machado is their 3rd-best hitter. I literally can not process this trade.
