How many damn prospects do the Padres have man? Theyve been trading them for impact players for the past several years and yet they still have enough to still be a leader to get Soto?

When did it become standard to make these 4 for 1 trades? Seems like all the teams specifically want 4+ players now no matter what

We could have traded them this years Tellez for Hadar lol.

Seriously though... Odd trade for a team that's leading their division but I guess they didn't like the dip in Hadars performance this year.

This is an interesting trade.

-Brewers get a Hader replacement in Rogers before he hits FA at the end of the year. Then they get two prospects and a wild card reliever on top of it.

-Padres get a year and a half of Hader.

Weird to see two contenders make a trade like this but given the strengths of each team I think it makes a lot of sense for both sides.

No way Ross was ever trading for this guy

Yankees To Acquire Scott Effross From Cubs

By Steve Adams | August 1, 2022 at 12:05pm CDT

12:05pm: The Yankees have announced the trade.

11:54am: Right-hander Hayden Wesneski is going back to Chicago in the trade, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

11:41am: The Yankees and Cubs are in agreement on a trade sending right-hander Scott Effross from Chicago to New York, reports Jack Curry of the YES Network (via Twitter).

Effross, 28, isn’t a household name but has been outstanding since the Cubs promoted him for his Major League debut in 2021. The sidearming righty has tallied 58 2/3 innings as a big leaguer to date and posted a 2.91 ERA with a 28.8% strikeout rate, a 5.1% walk rate and a 46% ground-ball rate.

While Effross throws right-handed, he’s been far more effective against lefties than right-handers to this point in his big league career, which surely held appeal to the Yankees (and to other teams). That’s not to say that he’s ineffective against fellow righties — far from it — but Effross has held lefties to a putrid .160/.250/.253 batting line through 85 plate appearances. Right-handed hitters have had struggles of their own, hitting Effross at a solid .262 clip but posting a meager .287 OBP and just a .369 slugging percentage.

It wouldn't really bother me that much if the Yankees did get him. It'd almost be like the Benitendi trade (decent trade but just marginal improvement) but on a bigger scale meaning they'd have to give up more prospect capital. They've already got a pretty good 4-man playoff rotation. Montas would be making a few starts instead of either Montgomery, Taillon or German depending on what they would decide to do.

His name is literally F-Ross

1.2 fWAR reliever with a 2.19 FIP, 10.23 K-rate and isn't even arb eligible until 2025 of course the yankees strengthened their already stronger bullpen with this guy

What would have been a comparable return from the Jays? Max Castillo?

I don't think we really have a comparable return but yeah Castillo would be the closest thing.

Value wise the Cubs would probably need Groshans from Toronto to top Wesneski

The brewers have insane self belief in their pitching dev which is probably warranted given their record in that area.

That Yankees prospect was a pretty good one to give up for a reliever. But they also probably think they can make more.

Castillo might be as good but he’s not nowhere near as highly rated by most prospect sites.

Who do u think we getting boys?

Hard to say, Atkins is pretty good at keeping his possible moves out of the public until they happen.

From my POV though, anything less than a top end shutdown reliever and improvement on the bench is a failure. SP would be nice, but I don’t think it’s nearly as essential as those other two spots.

Complete wish list would be, 1 better bench guy, 2 RPs and a SP.

#Rays bolstering bullpen depth by acquiring LHP Garrett Cleavinger from #Dodgers. Mostly at AAA this season, has 47 Ks in 29 IP. Rays give up German Tapia, 18-year-old OF with DSL team.

I would never do a trade with the Rays man. Instead I would sign anyone they want long term lol.
