Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 That sux....would have loved to get him. The Reds still have Mahle we could get.. Fingers crossed.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 LOL. Jays are going to have yet another crappy, disappointing trade deadline and miss or barely make playoffs for 2 games. I have a feeling we’re all going to be pissed off after the deadline passes. Ok??
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Well atleast he’s not going to the Yankees.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 So, they gave up their 1st, 3rd, 5th + unranked for Castillo
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 So, they gave up their 1st, 3rd, 5th + unranked for Castillo Any of these guys good?
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Marte is pretty f***ing good; probably one of the better SS coming up.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Wow did not expect Ms to deal Marte
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Any of these guys good? Marte has been a s*** hot prospect for a number of years.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 I mean that’s a very good return for the Reds. The patience paid off for them.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Marte has been a s*** hot prospect for a number of years. So the Jays equivalent probably would’ve been Moreno + a couple smaller pieces
Blazeit420 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Gonna be a sellers market this year.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 So the Jays equivalent probably would’ve been Moreno + a couple smaller pieces Moreno recently. However, Marte has been a very high spec for longer. I think he might have lost a little helium though and let guys like Moreno pass him. Probably why the Mariners were willing to deal him. Yes, he would be our Moreno.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 That's some kind of haul for the Reds and an ill advised move for the Mariners. I think they are going to need to add a couple of hitters if they want to make it out of the WC, let alone make any serious noise in the playoffs. They are a deeply flawed team.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Moreno, Orelvis, Maximo, Biggio probably And last year we gave up Martin + SWR for Berrios, a very similar pitcher with the same amount of control. Looks like M’s paid a higher price for Castillo no?
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Moreno, Orelvis, Maximo, Biggio probably I don’t think Arroyo is same level as Martinez. Martinez is a FV50 and Arroyo a 40+, the other 2 guys are RP/SP. I think it would be more like Hilrado

Eh, anything can happen in the playoffs. Mariners are in a good spot right now and have such a long playoff drought it’s probably worth it.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Looks like M’s paid a higher price for Castillo no? They did but that's what Atkins said - prices are premium right now.

They have Haniger coming off the DL soon. Winker can only go up. They have a deep pen and a lot of pitching potential. They still might not be done..

Ken Rosenthal reported Dylan Moore Id say maybe more Gabriel Martinez to Groshans range for Arroyo currently, but basically SEA #2/3 hitting prospect right now
BlueJaysFever Verified Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Marte and Arroyo is a steep price to pay. This makes me lean towards just getting a depth starter and some pen arms at this point. I was hoping for a high-end SP but not at the price of the best prospects in the org.

A depth starter should be 2nd on the list of priorities, maybe some like Syndergaard

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Look at the Jays pen during their glory days. An elite pen is a big deal. Wish the today Jays would take it more seriously.

A depth starter should be 2nd on the list of priorities, maybe some like Syndergaard I like Drew Smyly and Lou Trivino as cheaper options. Another reliever and a bench bat should also be on the table. There are a lot of areas to improve and we can afford to be patient and take what players come at a reasonable price.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 There’s 3 days left… not much time to be patient I don't agree. One major trade has been made and it was a significant overpay. There is plenty of time.
