We supposedly have our WS team in play. Should not have been this close

Sign me up for the guarantee the Jays play even better after June. Do W's not count the same in June as they do in September? (We missed the playoffs by 1 game last year largely cause...June).

HungJim Ryu Provisional Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Gasman looks like he's completely out of gas, been bad for a month now culminating in today's horrible display. What looked like it was a great signing the first 6 starts of the year is quickly looking like it's going to head the way of Ryu

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Well said partner. Some people think that this 6-4 stretch against these teams don’t matter because it’s June. Lol You’re right, Jays probably cost themselves a playoff spot this week… sucks. Ah well. You can stop watching the games now. See you next year bud!
Benito Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Well said partner. Some people think that this 6-4 stretch against these teams don’t matter because it’s June. Lol Maybe some people just aren't overeating after every loss, and realize there's still over 60% of the season left to play.

Yeah not like 6-4 isn’t a 0.667 win pace or anything… obviously want to beat up on weaker teams but that doesn’t always happen in baseball. This is not a “catastrophe” like Horse ass is trying to frame it
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Well said partner. Some people think that this 6-4 stretch against these teams don’t matter because it’s June. Lol Well, again going back to earlier convo..the whole thing has been diluted now with 3 WC teams. In practicality, these games could very well matter a lot when it comes to seeding, but I’d say objectively speaking the Jays are going to have a very great odds of just making the playoffs and it’s hard to see them not even being WC3. So it takes a bit from the regular season and that’s what purists will complain on.
Benito Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I think if the Yanks weren't on a historic pace, there wouldn't be so much overreaction after every Jays loss. As someone pointed out earlier, the team was on a 97 win pace coming into this game. They are playing damn well, and in the most competitive division in all of baseball. It's not smoke and mirrors either. It reflects their talent level. Sucks to lose to any team. But you are going to get stretches like that in a 162 game season.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Y'all are so weird; no one is catastrophizing lol. IT STILL SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THIS CLOSE THOUGH. Very simple sentiment considering a WS team v a team rebuilding. If anything, it speaks more to how strong Os are gonna look in a year or two. Doesn't mean we aren't making playoffs or possibly winning the WS. Eesh. Confirmation bias addicts over here.

It's sports at the highest level of competition. It's going to happen. Even to the Yanks and Dodgers. The game isn't played on paper.

I’m sure some people in here will come up with some ******** excuse and pick up for the team. You sure about that??
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 There's 0 reason to overreact to one loss, it just stings the casuals more because it was Gausman who got torched and it was by a team they consider to be sub-par. In reality, Baltimore is probably the best team in the AL outside of the rest of the East teams and Houston. They just got ROFLstomped by the Yankees alot early on.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Despite the loss still on a 95 win pace and 3rd in the American League and 6th in all of baseball. Hardly a f***ing disaster lol But, we do need Gausman to make some adjustments and for Kikuchi to figure his s*** out.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 You sure about that?? Well maybe him lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Oof... thought the game started at 7. Looks like I missed a shitshow, that's a disappointing outcome.

Buster Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Just sat down to watch the game - thank god for the skip forward feature on Sn Now. Gausman is moving into disappointing territory, which is weird. Not outright dogshit like Kikuchi, but still, I expected more from him.

Rotation has been up and down all year to this point, only Manoah has been consistently great. Berrios started afwul and now he’s pitching a lot better. Gausman has been the opposite. Pitching badly now. Ryu was hit or miss, Stripling has been great in his few starts. Kikuchi looked pretty good for a few weeks and now can barely throw a strike. Hopefully they get on track soon. If Kikuchi can’t throw strikes the Yankees are going to throat him in the first inning.

This is not a “catastrophe” like Horse ass is trying to frame it Actually 6-4 is .600, which corresponds to a 97 win season. BUT this was against 3 under .500 teams, so 7-3 would have been expected. Then again, 6 of the games were on the road. If Jays can somehow take 2 of 3 this upcoming series, I suppose all will be forgiven.

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 This entire series against Rays: Yankees score 2 on an error in the 1st game, 4 on 2 HRs (2nd HR should not have happened as Rays committed two errors to put men on base + a foul pole HR by Higgy), and currently being shout out. Yankees offense isn't crazy right now. Their pitching staff keeps them in the game but still gives up runs. All we need to do is not give them the long-ball (easier said than done but thats where it stands) and we should win.
