Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Remember opening day? There's still a chance.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Gausman needs to remove his leg bounce before the pitch and change how he brings the ball out of the glove (don't tap it). I think both lead to tipping his pitches Coaches/FO have to f***ing figure this s*** out. Something is up
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yeah 3 game series at home. Homefield is key though, need to be the best wildcard team. I mean we'll see how this weekend series against NY goes, but they're just having a miracle season so far. Is that how it works? That’s good. I thought in this day-and-age it would 1-1-1 with 2 or 3 days between each
Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Every pitcher has a blow up outing now and again, and that can especially happen when things don’t go right in the field behind you.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 And many thought the series against the Angels would be really tough and we ended up sweeping. Baseball is weird. True. But I don't find much solace in our Angels results, because the guys we are competing against also crushed the Angels, and are also destroying the weaker teams piling up Ws. We kinda have to do both too or it's wildcard time. Hopefully at home.

I think both lead to tipping his pitches I was at his last start in Toronto and I swear to god with runners on, Gausman is balking on every pitch. He never stops bouncing or tapping his hands. I can't fathom how this isn't considered a balk.
Jays2champs Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yeah nah the higher seed gets the full 3 game series at home. Huge advantage IMO Basically you want to finish in the top 4. If you finish top 2, you get through right away. If you finish 3rd, you face the 6th place team at home in a 2 of 3. Same concept for finishing 4th but you face the 5th place team. It gets sucky if you end up finishing 5th or 6th.
vaff Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 But U know some people in here will think it’s alright. Puzzles me. Ok, first of all, it’s a 97 win pace. Second of all, it’s a 10 game stretch in the middle of June.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Is #3 automatically the other division winner?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yeah 3 game series at home. Homefield is key though, need to be the best wildcard team. I mean we'll see how this weekend series against NY goes, but they're just having a miracle season so far. The first 2 WC teams face each other, while the last WC team faces the division winner with the worst record (meaning whoever wins the Central). Would you rather have 3 games in Toronto against the Rays (1st WC) or 3 games in Minnesota/Cleveland/Chicago (last WC)? I think I'd be fine with 1st or last WC, but the 2nd WC spot seems like a really bad spot.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Hopefully Charlie doesn't use Richards today so he can save him for a high leverage spot this weekend.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 And just like that we're back in the game....... Teooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We kinda have to do both too or it's wildcard time. Hopefully at home. Yeah I get that. Baseball standings are so weird to be honest. So many "Wild Cards". Only 3 "winners" (one per division). Finishing in the middle of the playoff standings is seen as "bad" in the MLB because there are so few "winners", when in other sports finishing 3rd or 4th, or even just making the playoffs is seen as a success. As long as we get in the playoffs, I'll be happy.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 And just like that we're back in the game....... Teooooooooooooooooooooooooooo This is f***ed up lol. I stopped following the game while at the gym. Just this thread. Rushed back thinking GS- 3 run bomb at least
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Beasley looking pretty sharp. If he can be a thing, that would help.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 2 just-missed homeruns already. Arghhhhhh
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Agreed. Plus whoever wins that WC1/WC2 series likely has to face the Yanks in the ALDS Yup the 1st seed faces the winner of WC1/WC2, and the 2nd seed faces the winner of Central/WC3. Which is kind of unfair to the 1st seed since the first two WC teams are likely going to be better than any team that comes out of the Central (in both leagues). I was hoping MLB went with the "pick your opponent" feature, but maybe the players were not on board with that. Should have just reseeded based on record.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yeah obviously it’s a crap shoot when you get there, wouldn’t be afraid of NY in a series. Wouldn’t bet either way, but still… Anyways, I just like the “at least 3 game series”.. like Jays last 3 game set vs Tampa… you lose Game 1 which could’ve gone either way, but now you get a chance to win next two to advance, have your #1 on mound.. just gets killed… But can live with that. One and done is stupid
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Unless it’s March Madness*- then it’s kind of awesome
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yup the 1st seed faces the winner of WC1/WC2, and the 2nd seed faces the winner of Central/WC3. Which is kind of unfair to the 1st seed since the first two WC teams are likely going to be better than any team that comes out of the Central (in both leagues). I was hoping MLB went with the "pick your opponent" feature, but maybe the players were not on board with that. Should have just reseeded based on record. I believe their reasoning was that the number 1 seed doesn't end up facing a division winner in the ALDS. But like you said, that could mean Yanks vs Jays/Rays instead of Whitesox which is probably a weaker team.

JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Can Gurriel run any slower...
