Boston is my favourite city in America. I’ve really enjoyed myself every time I’ve been. Would easily live there if circumstances permitted.

I love Boston much better than New York. Less crazy and less congested. Probably one of the best sports cities in terms of fan atmosphere, venues, teams, etc. Fantastic restaurants. An hour or so drive out to the Cape. It's like if Halifax was a bigger city.

I’ve never been to Boston but would love to go. Great sports town and great food

I think Grant would be the only poster on here who wouldn't like Boston haha.

FFS, the critics on here spent the last 2 weeks complaining that this FO doesn't know how to build a bullpen and how all the best teams in baseball, like the Yanks have lockdown bullpens and know what they are doing. That was right about the time I pointed out that Holmes' underlying stats actually weren't that good.

Chris Woodward was fired as the manager of the Rangers. I knew that was going to happen when they spent a ton of money in the offseason which raised expectations but still had a bad team.

Yeah, the problem with Texas was that they spent big to build a foundation rather than already having one in place, and spending big to add on to it. 2 star players added to a pile of crap is still just 2 star players and a pile of crap.

How about Big Albert with at 120 wRC+ and his first positive WAR season since 2016. It really is nice to see that he's a legit player and not just a sideshow in his final season. I'll be rooting for the Cards to win some playoff games and for Pujols to play a role in a late game comeback or something special. One last time.

I'm finally getting around to watching Ken Burns' Baseball. Really great series. A lot of focus on Ty Cobb in the early episodes. It of course hammers him but after reading up on him some more it doesn't seem like he was as bad as people claim him to be.

He's got to be tempted to come back for one more year to get 700 homers.

Looks like Semien cooled off. 99 wRC+ in the 1st half, 92 wRC+ in the 2nd half so far...YIKES.

SO glad we traded for Chapman instead of re-signing Semien on that size contract

Interesting to see Houston on the list. I like it a lot but you don't see people mention it as a great place very often.

The Rangers have actually received a handful of OVERPERFORMANCES and they still sucked.

Who expected Martin Perez, Jon Gray, Brock Burke, Nate Lowe, Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, Matt Moore, Leody Taveras to all be pretty good to very good?

Very little went horribly wrong for them this year. Semien was not great but not horrendous.

My favorite US cities in no particular order are Honolulu, San Diego, Austin, New Orleans, Nashville, Charleston and Memphis.

I probably wouldn't want to live in New Orleans (I'd die from partying too much) or Memphis (it's got a ton of character but it just isn't that nice) but the rest of them are good places to live too. A lot of people really like Denver these days which is where I live but I know too much about it to rank it high on the list.

Canada has 3 great cities that are comparable and probably better than its American counterparts (Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal are right up there with NYC, Boston and Seattle) but I prefer warmer weather.

I am too Canadian so if I had to move to the states I'd probably land in Boston or Chicago.

Makes sense. Denver gets a lot of Canadians, I know a lot of Albertans.

Meant to say Denver too.

Maybe Seattle.

Basically just need an MLB team and an NHL team and some snow and then most importantly not a dump like Detroit or St Louis

Favourite US cities I have visited in no particular order: Milwaukee, Traverse City, Denver, Albany, Spokane, Portland, Chicago.

Cities I didn't really enjoy: Phoenix, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Seattle.

Milwaukee and Chicago are closer to me than Toronto so we see ballgames in both cities every year. Miller Park (American Family Field) is amazing and the city is really underrated.

You won't be seeing much snow in Seattle. It averages 1 day per year with snow on the ground.

right but I'm assuming you can just drive a bit inland and be snowboarding with a snow cone

I have a colleague who works half her time in Alberta and half in Boulder

We stopped in Milwaukee on our way to Green Bay for a Packers game. I was pleasantly surprised myself (not that we stayed there too long). I'd love to go back to watch the Brewers. I've also really enjoyed Chicago the couple of times we've gone there. Prefer Boston over NYC (by a long shot).

Yeah a lot of smaller US cities that aren't really destination places are moving up in my opinion. Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, etc.

Calgary remains underrated, I guess. Just got named #3 most livable city in the world, tied with Zurich. Higher than Vancouver and Toronto.

Yeah that is fair. I visited there a long time ago and liked it. Seems like a really good place to live.

Nashville is in my top 5 for sure. Such a fun city! Wish they just had a baseball team!

Seattle reminded me a lot like Vancouver, though more homeless and crackheads. I enjoyed going to ballgames at Safeco (now T-Mobile haha). Overall it was meh. Chicago wasn't a big fan. Too congested and is ranked as one of the most dangerous cities in North America.

Shocked you put Houston as well. I loved Houston when I went. It's a huge city to cover for sure. Not much downtown other than Minute Maid Park (which is beautiful and an awesome experience to watch a game), though the surrounding areas of Houston have great breweries, restaurants, and NASA haha. Houston is one of the best food cities I've been to. Real estate is very reasonable there as well, and you're about an hour and a half to the coast like Galveston.

For me, my top five in no particular order would be: Boston, Nashville, Tampa Bay/Clearwater/Dunedin/St. Pete's (throwing them all in one since they're all close haha), Savannah, and probably Denver. Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin are pretty close up there as well, and out of all places in California, I would say San Diego was by the best and most beautiful.

Charleston is high on my list of places to visit. I've been to Savannah which has the same feel.

Austin was a cool city. It's a bit woke for Texas, but still very fun and loved all the restaurants, bars and barbecue places.

I went to New Orleans one year for Mardi Gras and it was crazy. I would love to go sometime again when it's not as busy. Amazing restaurants, cocktail bars, architecture and the city has so much character. Like you said though, wouldn't want to live there since too much partying and high crime rates.

For me Toronto and New York are a toss up. As a tourist would prefer New York, though to live Toronto. Boston is far better than Montreal in my opinion and I'll give Vancouver a nod over Seattle. Otherwise, for other Canadian cities, Calgary is very nice. Bad weather for like 8 months of the year which is downside, unless you really love the cold. But for living, very affordable real estate and you have the mountains right in your backyard. Victoria is nice as well, but a very small city. Want to explore more of Vancouver Island sometime in the future. But yeah definitely a lot more interesting places in the States than Canada.

Calgary is probably the best place to live in Canada IMO. Affordable cost of living and real estate; big city vibes though not as congested and expensive as Toronto/Vancouver; an hour from the mountains. Only downside is the winters can be long, though there are some days where Calgary gets Chinooks so in January it could be +15 degrees. Also, they could use a baseball team haha.
