It's pathetic that the Rays didn't address their offense this offseason. They desperately need an impact bat.

 

clearly they are just trusting their projections on Franco, and some other guys.

Yeah other than Arozarena, Lowe (if he returns to his 2021 form) and Franco if he breaks out, their offense is isn't anything special. Missing an impact bat or two for sure. It's a shame to let that amazing pitching staff go to waste.

Well, we now have an idea of the apprx price for the Marlin's pitchers. The Rockies and Marlins were discussing Rodgers for Cabrera and the Yankees Glyber Torres for Lopez.

 

I would move Espinal or Biggio for one of those guys.. Doesn't sound like enough bat coming from us which is what the Marlins want. I wonder if we could work Martinez in a trade to the Marlins...

There’s no way the Marlins value Biggio or Espinal in the same realm as Rodgers or Torres. If it’s MIF help they’re after maybe Barger + would interest them but the plus would be sort of big

Yes, agree 100%. That is what I was saying, our equivalent guys that we could move are not enough bat. We would have to def add and I am not sure what we have that could bring it across the line.. Barger is a nice idea though...

Colorado is so bad. What would they even do with two years of Lopez? They don’t know their heads from their ass, trade Rodgers for some sort of mini prospect return if you don’t want him

 

I’d rather keep Barger at this point. He’s on the cusp of the big leagues and could see his value sky rocket if he hits the way he did last year. Idk they need a couple cheap guys to emerge if they want to keep the competitive window open past the next couple years

If I’m the Rockies I make that deal. Rodgers only has 3 years control left. And his last two year he put up 1.7 and 1.1 WAR. Cabrera has 6 years.

 

Espinal has out WARd Rodgers each of the past 3 years. And has 1 more year of control. I’d move him for Cabrera.

For sure you make that deal if you’re the Rockies. That’s why I find it hard to believe that’s the asking price. Surely Miami could get a better player than Brendan Rodgers on his own for Cabrera.

But its worth a call, man I would love that deal, include a lower prospect as well. I have liked our recent trades with Miami. See what it takes.

The Rangers have gotten way better, they have to be in WC contention right now. I don't get those that say they stink, they don't. How they got here is dumn, but c'mon.

 

They have zero depth. They will be with the Twins, M's, White sox, Angels in that "if everything goes right" crowd.

Yeah Wilko pointed out doesn't factor the Varsho trade. They should be higher IMO.

 

I love the Rays pitching staff, but they don't have the bats IMO to be a Top 5 team. I would drop them to 8th or 9th.

 

Astros should be in the Top 5 IMO. I still think they're the team to beat in the AL, though for sure a lot of AL West teams did close the gap on them.

 

I know only a couple projections are in, but the two that are, have the Rays projected for the 4th best fWAR (just ahead of the Jays and Astros).
