Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Shatkins haters will deny they were haters now Org is setup to win the next few years. Shatkins hater here. The position they have this team in currently is orgasmic lol. Have we ever been in a position to win now and still have an amazing farm system? Feel like it's always been one or the other for us.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 You have zero clue if Biggio can play a big league third lol I judged him on his brief appearance there last year. Dude looked so awkward throwing the ball from there. Ah well... lets see how people look in spring training before I get my panties twisted lol. I'm so pumped!!!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Alpha Atkins has played free agency beautifully so far. One year deals on high upside players coming off down years (Semien, Yates, Ray) and one major impact deal (Springer). The farm system has remained in tact so far, and slowly but surely the 40 man roster is starting to lose clutter. The team still needs at least one, but hopefully two SP's, and still arms out there to choose from.

They are setup very well to compete for the next few years at least. Fun times.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 No reason it has to take us out of Hendricks if we are actually interested in him. And if it takes us out on Bryant, who cares? If the Cubs thought he was worthless due to his arb bonus they would have non-tendered him. I'd rather pay the money in FA for a rental than also having to send assets to do so. I agree 100% with you. Hendricks could still be in play, you're right. Not sure I'd want to give up the assets necessary to get him without eating Bryant's deal though. Ross & Shapiro are probably not trading anyone in our Top 10 prospects list, from what I've seen.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 That Toronto could get a comp pick for Semien after 2021 is the cherry on top. If he has a good year, this either becomes a cheap two year deal (he accepts the QO) or it's like $1/18M for Semien and a pick around 70th overall.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 This lineup is just absurd lol: Biggio, 3B Bichette, SS, Springer, CF Hernandez, DH Guerrero, 1B Semien, 2B Gurriel Jr, LF Grichuk, RF Jansen, C Bench: Espinal, Fisher, Tellez, McGuire/Kirk I'd go with the following. Springer has been a leadoff guy for too long so I wouldn't mess with what's been working. I'm not sure who would go in the 3 hole but the fact it won't be Grichuk this year is awesome lol. Having Biggio last is more to setup the top of the order. Springer CF Bo SS Semien 2B/3B Skinny Vlad 1B Hernandez DH/RF Gurriel LF Grichuk/Tellez RF/DH Jansen C Biggio 3B/2B

Any idea what the projections for Seiens power numbers moving from Oakland to the Rogers Centre and in the bandboxes in the Al East? Going from 33 Hr +/- in 2019 to 40++?
43211234 Verified Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 So who's first out on the 40-man? Ty Tice? Yennsy Diaz? Maybe Derek Fisher is gone. Jonathan Davis?
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Maybe Derek Fisher is gone. Yes Please!
jerb Verified Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Dan Shulman @DShulman_ESPN Report I just got on Semien - "as hard a worker as there is. Was banged up most of the season, but healthy in playoffs, and crushed." Seems like a really good signing, he'll be motivated to try and earn multi-yr deal somewhere, and Jays retain flexibility re Groshans, Martin
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 So who's first out on the 40-man? Ty Tice? Yennsy Diaz? Maybe Derek Fisher is gone. Jonathan Davis? I think the FO values Davis more than Fisher. My money is on Fisher, unless there are some moves made. Hey, think Groshans will be ready by May, 2022? Damn, that'd be nice.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 So who's first out on the 40-man? Ty Tice? Yennsy Diaz? Maybe Derek Fisher is gone. Jonathan Davis? Fisher is out of options, while it looks like Davis still has 1 option left. So my guess is Fisher is gone eventually.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Just came on to say I really like this move. Cheers
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 I know but it makes no sense to put Biggio at 3B who is very below average there. Might as well use Vladdy. Maybe they'll fool us all and move Gurriel to 3B.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Semien 1/18 Roark 1/12 Ray 1/8 Yates 1/5.5 Yamaguchi 1/3 Chatwood 1/3 Dolis 1/1.5 We're gonna be good this year. Still have a really strong farm system. And still a lot of flexibility moving forward What's the FA market looking like next offseason?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 What Jays fan could possibly be disappointed at this point? None.... Unless you try to force feed them your Shatkins. No one wants that.

It was eating at Ross giving up the pick for Springer so he rectified the situation!
BallsDeep Verified Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Like it!!! Time to address SP
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Marcus Semien puts the Jays 3rd in projected WAR according to Fangraphs. Atkins really out here building a super team. Get a couple pitchers and call it an offseason. In MLB or just the AL?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Like it!!! Time to address SP Yeah, bring on Paxton. Aggressive move for Springer, Yates and now Semien. It's great to see the excitement. So much for the fans who said Shatkins wouldn't get anything done.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Lol, the Jays are paying for the standard, above average Semien. There's a non insignificant chance the Jays could be getting MVP calibre Semien. Shame on anyone not excited about this. Yes! Also, guys are taking our money to play here

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 @ShiDavidi Current #BlueJays plan is to use Marcus Semien at 2B, with Cavan Biggio sliding over to 3B, where he played 10 of his final 13 games last season, including playoffs. Jays will be open to using Vladimir Guerrero Jr., at third, as well, but most likely it's Biggio's spot.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Exactly Semien is likely better than Bryant in 2021, for similar money and no prospect cost I'm curious if people would be OK with a package around Biggio + others for Bryant and Hendricks. It's mostly to address the starting pitching gap in a cost effective manner because I don't see us keeping Bryant after the year.

Biggio is worth a lot more than Bryant due to age, control and cost and Hendricks isn't cheap. I'd rather just keep Biggio and then sign or trade for a SP on their own, perhaps even Hendricks himself.

Keith, Keith, Keith Maybe Keith is just trolling, I have to think Keith is starting to get in people's heads. Why else would anyone ever want to trade a 30-2 basestealer with 120 walks? Keith is screwing with us, sowing doubt... His crazy confidence messes with me too. I do worry about Biggio as Keith is so ultra crazy confident with the can't hit the fastball thing.

Like if he gets asked a question on the Siemen signing. Barry from Barry - Keith what do you think of the Siemen signing Keith - Jays off season has been really good. Springer and Siemen and 6-8 wins. Our projections have them at 89 now just out of the playoffs. The problem is Biggio can't hit the fastball, that will cost them this year. Hopefully they recognize what is going on with Biggio after 2 weeks and get him out of there before he costs them too many wins.
