Are Trout and Rendon both going to be OK for 2022?

There was a tidbit on fangraphs a week or so ago. Trout and Sandoval are 100% healthy. Trout is running at full effort. No report on Rendon.

f***ing finally the Angels actually spend on pitching. Hope he has a full healthy season for them.

Syndergaard AND Ohtani throwing 100mph bullets is sexy

I just hope they stay healthy

Oh I saw Stroman dissed the Yanks on Twitter. Missed they said this at 2019 deadline:

GM Brian Cashman said this after the deadline: "We were interested in Stroman but we didn't think he would be a difference-maker. We felt he would be in our bullpen in the postseason."

Dude still carrying that chip

Correa tossing out some anti-NY snipes too:

Derek Jeter, how many Gold Gloves did he win?," Correa asked. "Five, I think he won. ... Derek Jeter didn't deserve any."

Yeah after that comment from Cashman, Stroman tweeted a bunch of stats trying to show that he was better than most of the Yankees starters

Montoyo received 3 first place votes

I'm not kidding

must be for his brilliant bullpen management......

by the 3 teams that finished ahead of us in the division lol

I mean, he's not wrong. Jeter wasn't even the best shortstop on the Yankees during the majority of his tenure there.

Yeah but there’s a lot of stuff that’s “right” that you typically don’t say. But good for him if he dgaf. Im never against that

Well, if we’re being perfectly objective, as petty as he sounded- that’s actually aged pretty well for him

His prediction has been correct so far yes. LOL

The Pirates announced they’ve released three players: right-hander Tanner Anderson, catcher Taylor Davis and utilityman Phillip Evans

I agree with eliminating the constant stepping out in the batters box (which I believe is actually supposed to be eliminated already, but not enforced). Anyone who has ever pitched at any level will tell you the importance of the warmup pitches though. You have to have them, particularly after sitting on the bench between innings. Trying to stay loose the entire time in the dugout would fatigue the arm too much, particularly when some innings are extended.

I think my point was being misunderstood. I said the pitchers should definitely have their warm up pitches but they should have them in the bullpen instead. This would help speed up the game in between innings and pitching changes immensely.

Same... Jeter was the most overrated player I've ever come across in baseball. Don't get me wrong, he was still a very good player but nowhere near the hype he gets. He was never even the best SS for any season of his career but gets treated like he was the best player in baseball.

The Yankee effect was definitely strong in how he gets viewed. The whole "he should have been a unanimous hall of famer" pissed me off. There are so many better players than him who never accomplished that feat because they weren't as lucky to be playing on stacked squad every year.

Regarding Stroman - if the players got along with the guy I have no problem bringing him back to Toronto. His online stuff probably causes the brass a headache but the man can pitch and if you can get him on a relative bargain (other teams may not go after him because of his "Strow-Show" hoopla) then he's worth a look. Not all free agents will play in Toronto and Stroman loved it here. And his big complaint that they don't spend money is over. If he's a clubhouse cancer that's a different story but if the teammates were good with him - then they should look seriously at him.

You really can't even in the bullpen between innings. It's too hard to predict inning endings and the pitchers need to have the rest period for their arms. The commercial break is important for monetary reasons anyway, so I doubt shortening it is overly feasible. If they can speed up the time between pitches, that'll do more than anything else possibly could. Deadening the balls slightly and moving the mound back a half inch wouldn't hurt either. It would likely reduce the number of pitches thrown.

That's where commercials go. That's never, ever going to happen. "In between innings" isn't really the issue that's trying to be resolved.

I don't really disagree, but his legacy was built on consistency, longevity, leadership and winning - and I'm OK with that. He had a flair for the dramatic and performed when the bright lights were on. He was really good at everything, but never THE BEST at anything.

My 11 year old son was asking me last night if I thought Bo or Vlad, or both would be 'lifetime Jays' and I told him I thought there was a good chance both could - but for different reasons. I told him we might have the honor of watching Vlad become one of the best hitters of all time, while Bo is a different type of player. He's not going to be the best hitter in the league, or the best shortstop or the best defender or the best base stealer - but he's going to do all those things very well and there's a possibility he chases 3,000 hits. When you factor in his marketability and swag - he might end up being our version of Derek Jeter. He may not end up with 5 rings, but I'm hopeful for a few. Bo strikes me as someone who's going to give the Jays franchise some very memorable moments over this career. I think 15 years from now, we'll each have a couple moments etched in our brains forever (like the Jose HR) and I think Bo will provide at least 1 of them. I think he has a similar flair for the dramatics that Jeter did.

Most news sources glossed over the extra cost of IFA money for the Angels signing Syndergaard

The full cost is:

21M salary

Second round draft pick

$500,000 in IFA budget

To get what... 120-130 innings max if he's healthy?

If you're going to do all that you probably want a club option for a second year. Or to add 2 other qualified FA players since losing 3rd/4th round picks don't hurt as much.

Still don't hate the deal but it's riskier than most.

Probably for a good 4-5 years (how much better is up for debate) - but tough to say how A-Rod's defense would have been at SS into his mid to late 30's
