Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Mets are "definitely" trading Syndergaard, apparently. Let the Yankees (who don't seem to want Stroman anyway) anti up for him, and it'll put more pressure on the teams we do want to trade with.

5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 This is pure comedy gold now lmao Haha love Stroman calling out their weasel talk
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Haha love Stroman calling out their weasel talk If Stro could STFU and stop hurting out leverage - that would be appreciated.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 He obviously doesn't like Atkins, why should he play along with the charade? Say what one will about Anthopolous, the guy did have a great repertoire with the players. He was even able to sign some of the team stars to team friendly contracts, that's certainly a rare feat in this day and age. AA was good at coming across as just "one of the guys" whereas Shatkins seem to me as just your typical type of empty suits.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 I don't understand why people are applauding Stroman for this. Regardless of how you feel about Shatkins, this may hurt his value(doubtful, but possible). There isn't really any positives to it.

If he gave a s*** about the fans, like he says he does, then he'd do what's best for them... Which is shutting the f*** up and letting the team maximize the return for him.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Concept of #Twins acquiring a starter and reliever in same trade has been mentioned, but one source said they're not close to doing so at the moment. It doesn't appear they're comfortable (right now) with a Stroman-and-Giles for Larnach-and-Graterol deal. @MLB @MLBNetwork Well s*** Not comfortable, lol. Those two would be a cheap price for either Stroman or Giles, let alone both. That's like our equivalent of Pardinho and Smith for two controllable elite talents.

fireballW Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Maybe he is thinking about his next team? If he is going to be traded, wouldn't he want his new team to still have their top prospects?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Toronto's asking price has been too high for Cashman's taste -- infielder Gleyber Torres has been requested, as has touted pitching prospect Deivi Garcia -- and so the Yankees have cast other irons into the fire by keeping tabs on the Tigers' Matthew Boyd, the Reds' Luis Castillo, the Rangers' Mike Minor and the D-backs' Robbie Ray, among others. Atkins taking the glasses off and getting serious.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Atkins taking the glasses off and getting serious. Lol that's pretty ridiculous. Hopefully that ends talks with the Yanks.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Lol that's pretty ridiculous. Hopefully that ends talks with the Yanks. Yup. Make a ridiculous offer to Cashman so he f***s off and you can trade with someone else. I approve. No more deals with Cashman.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Maybe he is thinking about his next team? If he is going to be traded, wouldn't he want his new team to still have their top prospects? He'd only be under contract with them through next year, and then can pick where he wants to go. Whether the team he's traded to now has their top prospects or not is probably of no concern to him.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Maybe he is thinking about his next team? If he is going to be traded, wouldn't he want his new team to still have their top prospects? That would make sense if it was the NBA and Stroman was Kawhi. And even there, Kawhi didn’t care.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 It makes more sense than caring about what the Jays get. Of all the teams in the MLB, he certainly won't be playing for the Jays after next year. If he goes to the Yankees or a similar team there would be a good chance of signing with them. I don't actually think he cares about that though. I just find it a bit funny people think he should care what the Jays get in return for him.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 What he says is not going to have an effect omfg Likely not. But it's just the fact that he's such a **** is what's annoying though.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Maybe he is thinking about his next team? If he is going to be traded, wouldn't he want his new team to still have their top prospects? So basically f*** the Jays and their fans.

But I know there have been plenty of players that have wanted their previous teams to do well in a deal with them as a gesture to their fans. It's not a foreign concept. But you're absolutely right. Stroman wouldn't be that guy.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 So basically f*** the Jays and their fans. You mean f*** the front office. Stroman’s obv doesn’t like the way he’s been treated by them. Whether that’s fair or not is debatable, but your outrage is misplaced if you think he’s ‘disrespecting’ the fans or having any impact on the non existent leverage of claiming an extension is still on the table.

I know his comments have no impact on the leverage. I also know he's basically sticking it to Shatkins. I just wish he'd shut the f*** up.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 I just noticed Donaldson is already at 3 WAR for this season (about 400PA), since 2013 he's averaging over 5 WAR per season and we somehow managed to trade him when he only put up 1.3 WAR. Say what you will about Shatkins and their professional structure vs. AA the cowboy, Shatkins handle on players and trades has been a disaster. It's like the common say about Communism, you can't make everyone rich but you can make everyone poor. Instead of hitting gold sometimes, they seem to strike out all the time.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 People forget AA rebuilt the farm system very quickly twice. One of those times he had Halladay to trade, but it was still impressive. He did a great job of hyping prospects as well. He'd always mention players by name in interviews and how they are taking off. I liked AA a lot and his passion really came through. He is gone though so always talking about him is kind of pointless. I'm cheering for this crew to finally show some guts. So far it is like the Ricciardi era. Some solid move but never pulling the trigger on moves when they are needed. Even when Ricciardi finally signed all those players he still didnt pull of what I would call any blockbuster trades.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 There was also the Marlins trade which was pretty bad.

Yeah but we have a 28 year old prospect who hasn't pitched in three years Lol
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 So basically f*** the Jays and their fans. Stroman gave his all to a team and has stated he wanted an extension. We don't know what was said or wasn't said behind closed doors. Clearly he feels wronged in some way. You're saying the way you're posting that if you were in Stroman's shoes that you would sit idly by and wish the guys who are f***ing you over the best whilst screwing your new team. Get over it. If all you ever wanted was an extension offer and you read that they guys you want to offer you an extension are lying about engaging in one it might piss you off too. Try and see both sides. I know if I was in Stroman's shoes I'd be a salty mother f***er too. Yes, I'm sure you'd be mother Theresa..lol There is the possibility the offers for stroman have been crap and they legitimately are considering extending stroman, but have yet to bring offers to his agent.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 There was also the Marlins trade which was pretty bad. It ended up being pretty bad, but that's hindsight. Otherwise at the time, I didn't have a problem with it. Who would have thought Josh Johnson was going to completely break down right after? He was coming off a 3.3 WAR season and was only 28 at the time. Mark Buehrle gave the Jays three solid years: 2.2, 3.7 and 2 WAR from 2013-2015. Jose Reyes was 29 and coming off a 3.8 WAR season. He wasn't the greatest with the Jays. Injuries and defensive inefficiencies really hindered his success, though still 2.5 and a 3.8 WAR season in 2013 and 2014. Reyes was completely useless in 2015. Do the Jays really regret giving up anyone in that deal? The only players that went on to have somewhat decent careers were Jake Marisnick and Anthony DeSclafani, and they were with different clubs after. The only thing about the Marlins trade that makes it bad is that it created a domino leading the Jays to go all in and that made AA trade Syndergaard for RA Dickey.

He is under contract to pitch. He should not be taking his displeasure public. He signed the contract, adhere to it and don't whine in public about it.
