G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Price has pitched all of 66 innings this year, to a FIP and ERA both around 4 Might this be the worst $30,000,000 spent in baseball this year??

What a terrible signing. The casuals would have run this team into the ground if they had any say. Imagine being stuck with giant contracts for Price, Bautista, and Edwin. We'd be going nowhere for at least 5 years.

That one extra win that the Jays would have right now with Price and Edwin instead of Happ/Estrada and Morales would be well worth the extra investment though.

Those guys don’t fall off of trees. This guy has done a good job for us.”

That and what manager wants to bash a surefire HOFer in the media that's still suiting up for you for next few years. Maybe Mike is just trying to stay positive. I'm still in the camp that thinks Albert is way older than he proclaims to be.
wk680 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 So Pillar appeared to get poked in the eye in the scrum of the Jays walk-off win celebration yesterday. Then last night, Judge got bumped and apparently chipped a tooth in the Yankees walk-off celebration. I wonder if he will get it fixed to original condition or cosmetically enhanced.

Respect likely would have been a better choice of words for me rather than loyalty. I think you hit the nail on the head, Scioscia might be that dumb but seems more likely that he just respects Pujols too much not to shoot down the notion that he sucks now.

He came straight from A ball and was the best player in baseball for like a decade. I don't know how old he is, he certainly could be older than he proclaims. It's really sad he couldn't have aged more gracefully. Legendary player.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 And that's why they've essentially wasted the amazing gift that was Trout. I know it's not the most popular opinion, but I still think they should seriously consider trading Trout in the offseason.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 “It’s nice if the guy can drive in a couple runs in the third inning, but what does he do when the game is on the line? He’s different than most anybody I’ve seen,” said Angels coach Ron Roenicke, who coached for the Dodgers when they faced the New York Mets in the 2015 NL playoffs. “There are certain guys that, when you need them to perform, they perform well,” Roenicke said. “I look at J.T. [Justin Turner]. That Met pitching staff was a good as any pitching staff I have ever seen. J.T.’s game picked up. He was turning on 98-mph fastballs. He was hitting nice curve balls to right-center for doubles. It was unbelievable. “Certain guys have something in them that, when you need them and the game is on the line, they just come through more often than other guys do.” The Angels admire Pujols for his willingness to play through pain, for his mentorship of Trout, and for his community service. But none of that, they say, is a substitute for his ability to contribute on the field. To say that Pujols is no longer his MVP self is no slight. But to say, as Fangraphs does, that backup catchers Juan Graterol and Carlos Perez each has been more valuable to the Angels this season than Pujols, well, the Angels aren’t buying that. “Our analysis, our viewpoint is that in Albert’s case, we’re seeing a guy that still has a lot of presence in the middle of the order,” Eppler said. “He impacts the baseball, and he has big at-bats.”
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Well f*** I hope he impacts the baseball. That's kind of the point.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Holy crap I forgot how awful that contract was, they will be paying Pujols until he is 41. $30 Million for the 4 more years remaining on his deal.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Depending whether they mean position player by infielder, or all people playing on the infield, it could be Stephen Pryor, Josh Vitters, Pastornicky. Pastornicky is my best guess.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Cocaine use is up everywhere. Even in Toronto its everywhere now and you go out on a Friday or Saturday and you're probably bumping into someone who has it. NHL players its probably even higher.

Put two and two together. Its like the Angels are trying to be bad, then you tell them that they are bad and they say "no we aren't!"
