I keep seeing Pearce thrown out as an everyday LF. Is he even capable of that at this point? Surely he's best in a platoon? You can't have both Pearce and Jose unless you're playing Jose everyday in RF which I think is a mistake. We've seen his defense crater over the past two seasons.

There's a lot of moving parts to this lineup if they re-sign Jose. You got Pearce who can play LF/RF/1B/2B, Jose who can play RF (better off at 1B?), Morales (1B/RF... Please god no). I just don't know if I'm ready for another year of watching balls fly over Jose's head again in RF.

I still think he comes out of this with a win, but this does seem like he's getting pretty close to getting burned. I don't think the main chatter around EE at this juncture should be "are the Indians willing to pay up?"

He wasn't "s*****" defensively until this year. You just did the common mistake of looking at his DEF column which includes position penalty.

 

He was basically average from 2009-2015 even a bit higher. DRS from 2009-2015 was +4

So you're telling me in 2010, when his DEF value was -12.8 and in 2015 when his DEF value was -18.9 that he was better than he was last year when his DEF value was -12.4?
