We have more organizational depth in an emergency in the OF (Pompey, Cecilliani...I guess) than in the infield. However, there are still a couple of guys out there you can sign in case of a major injury to either an OF (Jose) or IF (Travis/JD). Keeping Goins would be the conservative approach. At some point Jose/Travis is going down though, so pick your poison who you want starting everyday for a little while.

The funny part is through the bad years of 2013-2015 (first half) that place was always a beacon of optimism and anything negative said about the team/management got you downvoted.

What's the projected amount of wins for a team of 0 WAR players that make the minimum? I'm trying to wrap my head around how an extra three wins on top of that baseline is worth $27 million.

If we were in rebuild mode, I'm sure he would waive it to go to the right team.

I wouldn't say that's the entire strategy we've employed as a franchise, but there has to come a point where you have to say no. That 5th year and a full NTC is a reasonable point to say that, imo.

Considering EE's market right now, how can you say that the offer was disingenuous?

I keep seeing Pearce thrown out as an everyday LF. Is he even capable of that at this point? Surely he's best in a platoon? You can't have both Pearce and Jose unless you're playing Jose everyday in RF which I think is a mistake. We've seen his defense crater over the past two seasons.

How far along, realistically, is Urena? Is he on pace to be a September call up?
