    This might be the last time we get a Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez broadcast with the news about Buck. Sucks hard. Been watching them since the 90s on Labatt Blue Jays Baseball on TSN.

    Kirk sat yesterday and Chapman the day before. This is probably just preventative maintenance. All of those guys have injuries in their recent past. A's are a perfect series for early rest to compensate for short ST.

    I think Springer DHing all that time was probably a bad use of the DH anyway. The Gurriel situation is a bit different in that the season was down to the wire and before his hand got stepped on, Gurriel was the team's best hitter. Then again, maybe the DH rotation doesn't help much either and the core guys are otherwise very durable.

    I don't think mistakenly slotting a beat-up, "80%" Springer into the DH-role means the DH rotation doesn't work. Most of the lineup stayed remarkably healthy, so would that not be evidence that "getting guys off their feet" over a 162-game run has value?

    I really just meant fifth. They're not behind the Orioles. Has any WS champ ever only qualified for fifth in another division was the intent behind what I wrote.

    I can get behind the Braves being in the big show. Likeable guy Freddie Freeman is the perfect hero we need to vanquish the Astros.

    I haven't watched this series at all, so I am questioning the use of Eovaldi last night. Why was that their move? It obviously cost them the game (which could have happened to anyone, so whatever), but the extra downside is now their game 6 starter might be gassed too?

    Should a rule be added re: the Renfroe thing? A ground-rule triple? Same rule as GRD but with one base added as punishment for losing the ball out of play. It would be about as costly a thing to happen besides a home run. What would the downsides be?

    The division round is my favourite part of the playoffs. Day baseball is better than night baseball... but then you still get night baseball too! On top of that, the games generally don't overlap either, so you get to enjoy each one in full if it so pleases you, you glutton.

    Who says the same scenario doesn't play out anyway? The Jays were fighting to play a one-game playoff so they could play a one-game playoff.

    The Rays' mystique gets them way, way too much credit. I have no problem seeing them implode and go home crushed.

    So the ump actually spotted that daylight between the hand and base? He did delay the call. If he actually spotted that in real time then that is pretty impressive.

    I'm pulling for the Astros this series. I went away for 30mins and now it's 9-4. Really wish this game was more accessible to watch.

    The Sox trying to play math nerd shiftball against the Rays and then getting home stolen on them might be my favourite thing of the year.

    Is there any reason to believe Semien will sign with Toronto, other than the fact that he happened to play here in 2021? That said, I think he's my #1 all-time favourite Blue Jay hired gun. He's just amazing.
