I just hit my broken pinkie toe on the door jam, worst pain ever, felt like I broke it all over. *Excruciating*

I recommend alcoholic pain reliever.

This sentence really caught my attention from the Sullivan article:

The Blue Jays’ current roster doesn’t feature a lot of depth, unless you’re a huge, huge fan of Ryan Goins.

It's like he knows us.

Couple that with the Steve Pearce suggestion and I had the exact same thought.

Darwin Barney is pretty good depth for the infield.

One target I'd like in a trade would be Marcell Ozuna. In the past the Marlins wanted to deal him so maybe there is a fit there. He'd be perfect in RF.

Wonder if the Miami would do a 1 for 1 swap for Happ.

I think the Jays may make a play for Jesse Chavez. He could provide a spot start and help in the back of the pen. I know this year and his period with the Jays was bad, but seems like a good buy low candidate.

Resign Edwin

Only offer qualifying offer to Jose ..his antics are wearing thin

Graduate Pompey or Alford and start easing them in lf , with zeke being the alternate

Graduate McGuire help ease the workload off Russell

Sign reddick to platoon rf

Beg chapman or if not grab melancon and resign Cecil

If we want to save some money and still bring in a big bat we could look at signing Steve Pearce. He demolishes lefties and handles RHP fine. You can also move him around 1B, OF, 2B. Versatile player to have whether he's used everyday or not.

Yeah even though Goins is out of options (I think), I would still resign Barney and only hold on to Goins until the end of spring training in case of injury. If there's no room for Ryan on the 25, flip him to whichever team DID have an injury. You could do worse in a pinch.

Moron, can you stop f***ing up quotes and ruining simple reading and typing skills, thanks.

You seriously need to get a life outside of this message board.

I read the Thames article on Fangraphs. Don't know what to expect out of him, but on a cheap one year deal, and in a platoon with someone, he might be an interesting target. Just don't let him play the outfield.

Pearce fits this roster like a glove. He fills more than one need (positional flexibility, hits LHP). Needs to happen.

I'd be in on Wilson Ramos and Conger pretty hard. Wouldn't mind a little Erik Aybar on this team. The RP is flush with talent but I'd take a shot with Carlos Torres. Probably have to trade for 2 outfielders as BJ Upton is dead money.

You said this in another thread and I'll say it again verbatim: the Marlins won't trade a young controllable outfielder for a pitcher on the wrong side of 30.

Conger is an interesting case. He's used to a part time role and so he's a realistic target and he's done well in that kind of role. His value really cratered in 2016 though. His bat just completely vanished but it was only a 49 game sample (137 PA). If that's just a blip and not related to a significant skill change, he makes a good bounce back candidate.

I think you just pay him for his really solid defense and game calling, anything positive with the bat is just a bonus. He's a switch hitter, which is nice. He's got power, but has to pick his spots better.

some Grilli comments, who would like to finish his career with the Jays

That Grilli option is a no brainer. Even though he had a bad September he bounced back pretty well. And would expect him to produce value at that contract value. Love the guy he will be back.

He's been a negative fielder pretty much his whole career so I don't know about his solid defense (though it's probably a net positive when you factor framing). He'd be a backup anyways so there's only so much you can expect but I'd feel a lot better about him if you can pencil in the.300 or so wOBA he projects to have instead of the .250 he had last year. If he's going to be that bad than you might as well sign Jeff Mathis for cheaper. Mathis has zero offensive upside but he is a good fielder.

Indeed. Grilli's a beauty. Although he won't be here long - you could get his jersey (or maybe a t-shirt) and rock it for years and everyone who saw it would be like "yeah man - Grilli was the man - love that guy". Basically the complete opposite of my $40 knockoff Lawrie jersey.

If we lose Cecil to free agency i think a couple perfect value replacements would be Boone Logan or even Jerry Blevins. Logan had a fantastic year; 3.37xFIP while playing for the Rockies and an amazing 16.4SwSt%. He's 33 and i would think we could get him on a one year deal. Blevins would be my next choice as a LOOGY. Vs lefty hitting; 2.84 xFIP, 12.12 K/9, 2.77 B/9.

I wonder if Matt Holliday would consider signing here to DH and play some 1B. If he rebounds, he could replace a lot of what Edwin or Bautista would bring, but on a 1-year deal.

Not a bad idea. It's nice we don't have to worry about the "Boras factor" anymore. I wonder if him and Tulo are still buds from their Rockies days, maybe he could put in a good word.

Davidi saying 3/20 for Cecil. Omg $20m for Cecil????

As in done deal? If so, that's not bad at all.
