Don't get me wrong if he did this he's an f'ing idiot. But at the same time opening day every year we have drunk idiots physically assaulting other fans in front of kids and families and everyone just sits back and has a big laugh passing the youtube videos around. You had hundreds of people throwing s*** on the field last year and nobody was charged to my knowledge. Precedence is set IMO and I can't imagine the guy not getting off with a half decent lawyer.

So wait

Drunk guy hurls a lewd comment at a woman broadcaster, loses job, gets shamed like crazy,

Drunk guy hurls a metalic object at a player with the intention of hurting him, keeps job, hires lawyer, things are inconclusive?

Yes it will. It's national news, everyone is watching, they have to do something. No way they come out of it saying we don't have enough evidence to convict anyone.

There was an incident that caused a media firestorm at TFC game where a few drunken fans spewed some vulgar comments to a reporter on camera after a game. While their was a number of things the could have been charged with, ultimately the crown chose not to proceed. Ultimately as we did see in that case, there could be a venue ban.

Apparently the video is pretty clear according to police sources who have seen it. He as a cup in one had and flicks the can with the other. The don't seem all too concerned with apprehending him as such he might not even be in today for his interview with police. It could very well be a benefit to pushing it though the holiday weekend and let things simmer down in my eyes.

I feel really bad for this guy. One bad decision made because he was drunk, and his life is ruined. And nothing bad even resulted from his actions. Kind of seems like the police should just leave him alone... he has been and will continue to be punished far more than the legal system will punish him.

Well it sucks to suck right? If you can't control yourself in public when intoxicated, you shouldn't do it. And not only could there have been serious repercussions to the team had it hit Kim, but that s*** I'd imagine would hurt too. Plus the person had ample time to turn themselves into the police instead of flinging it and escaping as it sounded.

At some point in life you'll get older and become one of the 99.9% of people that have done incredibly stupid things and not had their lives ruined as a result, and it will knock you off that high horse. Take a step back and realize that this guy's life has been ruined because of a decision made in about 2 seconds. You really can't empathize?

I do and I don't. I hate mob justice, and I think he needs to pay for his actions, but after that we cool. The mob will never stop, so I take issue with their outrage.

At the same time, this action was dangerous, made the city look bad and he tried to get out of owning up to it like a weasel. People like him need to see real consequences to discourage what appears to be a trend in Toronto at this point.

Excuse me lol I've done some stupid s*** during high school days but I'm not stupid to the point that at a public event with cameras everywhere and 4 million people watching I do something and run away. If a person gets clocked for doing something simple like rolling at a stop sign, and the police puts on their sirens and you decide, instead of facing potential consequence to run, and you get a worse penalty that's on you.

All I'm saying is if you're at a point where you're easily identifiable by law enforcement don't run, especially for something stupid like that, don't make it a big deal. What the person probably would get is a ban from the RC and a minor fine. Now instead he gets the internet ruining their life.

If your point is that the internet took it too far then yes I agree, but this is exactly what happened too when Twitter and Reddit decided to play detective and 'catch' the boston bomber. When you don't turn yourself in, law enforcement will play the "plead to the media" game and ruin lots of people in the process to get the guy. If anything what that person did was stupid and selfish.

^^ Exactly. I hate the mob mentality but that's how life is now unfortunately. Also I personally don't even think he needs to pay for his actions, but the Toronto Police do and that's what matters and that's my point. If the police are gonna search for you they'll find you and if you make it hard for them they'll make it worse in the process, he shoulda just made it easy for himself and turned himself in lol

One thing I can say with 100% percent certainty is he will never see the inside of a jail cell. The thing is, this incident really is no different than if he threw a beer can at someone at a bar. Charges don't differ if they are even pressed.

He had 7 innings to figure out he should stop drinking... If you can't handle your emotions don't f***ing drink. Live and learn.

That's the problem though: that isn't possible. A significant fine, and ban from the park would have sufficed. But the internet has created this system where the idea of paying for a mistake and moving on isn't realistic. He'll be paying for this forever. It's really sad, especially for something that wasn't premeditated.

I don't think his running has impacted the public response whatsoever. He could have waited to be escorted out by security and the mob justice would have been identical.

I totally believe you can move on, the drunk goof balls at BMO Field were forgotten old news in what, a matter of weeks.

Exactly. Drink within your means. If you turn into an idiot when you're drunk, don't get drunk it public places! Its very simple.

I guess some people enjoy alcohol/recreational drugs too much.

I think you guys are blowing this out of proportion. His life isn't "ruined". He has been publicly shamed, but that does not equate to his life being ruined.

It's not social media that has created the problem... making a poor decision when 4 million people are watching is the problem and you don't need to be drunk to f*** up. Just ask Steve Bartman, that is if you can find him.

I'll be very surprised if he escapes this with his career intact.

Lol you must not use Twitter a lot, this is the series of events that made it increasingly worse:

Literally begging for a hunt for the guy lol come on dude if he didnt run none of this woulda happen

What if he hit him in the head or eye? Then it would be okay? But because he missed, just let it go?

They'll set an example out of this guy. He is screwed.

I think if in the end it is 110% proved to be him, common sense will kick in and he will keep his job. His boss, the sports editor of the Sun is a very reasonable guy. Plus if this happened at a bar, out on a the street or in the dome, it does not matter.

I agree. Just look at last year when the idiot threw a can and nearly hit a baby. That guy WAS CHARGED but pictures never even surfaced of him because they got him shortly after and then no one gave a s***. In fact, more people made the mom the victim by asking why was a baby at the game instead of who's the idiot chucking the beer can.

He should have faced the law for the crime, that's it. The social media campaign is sickening. Bartman interfering with Alou is on Bartman. The fact that you can't find Bartman easily is on society. It's a f***ing ballgame.

This dude threw a f***in can. If it hits Kim square, what, a bruise? Yeah this guy is a moron but I sure hope nobody here has texted while driving because that's a lapse with way worse potential outcomes that you got away with. He threw a can at a sporting event. Let him get his fine or whatever and stop the hunt ffs.

I f***ing hate when I see people texting WHILE driving. Its f***ing crazy. You'll see some idiot driving slowly, veering out of the lane a bit, and see them looking down at their lap. I hate it.
