Was that a planned Blister/arm problem to give Liriano as much time as needed?

Saunders not scoring is somewhat debatable, but i thought Pillar should have read that better and scored.

Jeff Blair and Brunt were saying this morning that Saunders made the right call on the bases. That he was thinking it would be caught so he needed to tag at 2nd.

But the guys on TBS were saying it was a mistake. I think Tulo thought it was as well because you could see him taking to Saunders in dugout about it and I think he said "do you see what I'm saying. There's only one out".

What was the correct thing to do?

You don't tag up, you go half way and think about scoring. If he tags and goes to 3rd with 2 outs then there's no sac fly option anyway when you'd already be in scoring position by having to go back to second.

I didn't get a good look of what was going on on the bases during the play, but from the limited camera angle it didn't look like he had a good lead to third base. I'd say he probably got mentally caught between getting as much distance towards third and going back for a tag-up if the ball was caught. Honestly, it was tough, but he wouldn't have looked so bad if he'd just been waiting to tag -- then he could at least use the excuse that he was playing conservatively and that Bourn's muck-up changed things. I think it's fair to assume that ball should have been caught.

Problem is he went half-measure on every potential outcome and looked like a goof. He wasn't waiting on second base to burst off following the catch either.

It did not look like he went back but i think the angle he had it looked like it was going to be caught (Which he did whiff on it). I think he went back when it came down because he thought it was going to be caught i am not sure though.

Watching the walkoff HR again, I feel bad for home plate lady. Some fat prick is standing in front of her even though there's usually no seat in front of her and she misses the whole Edwin AB. Iconic moment in Bluejays history, you have the best seat in the house, and you miss it for some fat guy's ass.

At the game I thought Bourn was going to make the catch too, so I can forgive Saunders (who was half way) retreating to tag up. That 90ft could have been critical had the out been made and most would have applauded if was able to move up on an out.

It's funny to think about how much stress the pitching decisions caused us. In the end, everyone pitched so well that Gibby could have thrown them out in any order and it would have worked out. With the benefit of hindsight, it's clear that Gibby had the game mapped out in advance. Stroman for 6, Biagini and Cecil for the 7th, Grilli for the 8th, Osuna for the 9th and Liriano if Stroman falters or it goes to extras. Minus the Liriano part, these are the exact same assignments he's been using since the Benoit injury. If we had been privy to this plan before the game, many of us (including me) would have flipped at such an unimaginative, conservative strategy but it worked out great. It all comes down to the players and they answered the bell. This was a nice reminder that even without Benoit, the bullpen can be pretty sick when everyone has their proper rest.

It's a good counter to the 10 WAR manager idea. He should still be fired but we can win in spite of him.

You're wrong and missing the point. There was 1 out. He should have been half-way between second and third. If it drops he scores, if he catches it Saunders retreats back to 2nd and you still have a guy in scoring position with 2 outs.

It was a f***ing broad who threw the beer. No jail time......ugh.

I dont think its her, there is better video out there that seems to suggest a man near her threw it. Someone in the same location also threw one when EE hit the homerun.

There's two close up pictures on this site and I noticed that the guy who is smiling and looking down to his left is visible in the second photo but is nowhere to be found in the first one. Instead in the first photo, the area that looks like it's been vacated by someone where the smiling man is missing, you can see an off-white colored hat behind the person in front with the white hat on backwards left shoulder like someone is ducking down out of view. But the smiling man wasn't wearing a hat and who knows where he disappeared to in the other photo.

Just out of curiosity, did the police investigate|pursue anyone who threw a beer can on the field at game 5 of the ALDS last year?

That guy that police think is the beer thrower was drinking out of a plastic cup in a different picture. The man that was smiling in my aforementioned post was looking in the opposite direction of the guy they think threw the beer so I don't think that is the guy that did it.
