Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Maybe they want to show the media that they are taking it seriously. Really? They need to put on a show for the media?

Yeah basically same as hard knocks, I don't like hockey but loved when the Leafs were on it and made me laugh my ass of at how horrible that organization was.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Just heard on the radio that Atkins is flying to Houston to talk to hobby Walker and Sanchez about Sanchez's future for the season.so here's to hoping they let him continue as a starter and just limit his innings. Just an excuse to get on the good BBQ that Gibby has been bragging about I suspect
Buster Verified Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Could they do a piggy back thing like in the minors? Maybe Sanchez and RA?
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Agreed, it's to stop the pig farmer http://i.snag.gy/jpr9u.jpg from yapping too much.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I suspect Martin is not even the most upset in that clubhouse. I can't imagine Bautista taking the news well especially since he's probably not in the long-term plans. Donaldson probably said something because he's insane. Tulo probably pouted visibly. Yeah I can see Bautista deciding to publicly embarass the team if they make a move with Sanchez that he disagrees with. It's what he does. And Zaun will back him up. Bautista wants a WS as much as anyone and he knows full well their chances are better with a healthy Sanchez keeping this up
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Donaldson "This isn't the piggy back babysitting league, this is the winning the f***ing World Series league Shooter Mcgavin."
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 That might be the best looking thing I've ever seen.
Molitor Verified Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Shouldn't Walker, Gibbons, Atkins, and Sanchez have got together to discuss options before Atkins went out and traded for Lirano, Feldman, and Bolsinger? The fact that they are doing it now either tells me: 1) They're reacting to the media and it's potentially altering their decision making 2) Something has changed over the last week 3) They're just a bunch of procrastinators Not sure which one to hope for.

fireballW Verified Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Turns out playoff appearances don't make you a doctor. The more doctors I talk to in my life the more obvious it is that if they dont know something they just guess. Doctor's say pitching less will lead to less injuries... well no crap.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Really? They need to put on a show for the media? John Gibbons: Ey Rossy. We're talkin' about maybe keeping Sanchy in the rotation, right? Ross Atkins: http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/wrong.gif

I don't think anything has changed. They've told Sanchez this was the plan from Spring... they've planned to acquire a replacement starter all year. This isn't a shock & awe moment, it's a media frenzy because when players & managers start voicing their displeasure to the media, the front office has a job to extinguish that fire asap with a team meeting. They wouldn't be talking if they were playing in Toronto.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) It's probably not a good idea for Sanchez to throw 230 innings this year. It's also probably not a good idea for him throw back to back days and 4-5 times a week. None of this logic is sound. Instead of cruising through 6 or 7 innings. He will now be brought into tight games with runners on and expected to go max effort? As a setup man he will probably see more stressful innings than Osuna. I'm sorry but that makes zero sense. I would like to think they have something better cooked up. Edited August 4, 2016 by Jonn
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 He's at 139.1 innings now 10 more "full" starts would put him over 200, then *hopefully* some playoff starts It's a problem... But you gotta try to win the division, all hands on deck
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I would be down for the Jays to skip 2 of his remaining 10 regular season starts but anything more than that is wasting a great opportunity with the core we have right now in this team.

I would like to think they have something better cooked up. I feel the same way. If you really want to save his arm, then why not add 1 to 2 more days of rest in between each start, and slot the other 5 SP around him accordingly? Suddenly switching a 98mph guy to potentially pitch 3 times in 5 days doesn't exactly sound like a strategy to prevent injury.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Maybe I'm alone, but I have a feeling Liriano will be solid

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Doesn't this also hinge on Liriano as well? He's going from PNC to the AL East. It's almost more likely that he becomes unusable than a quality #4. What do we do then? It's like the anti-David Price move. You're going from a top AL SP to below replacement level. I was just going to say that If he and Dickey both stink it's a huge problem Who else has "spot starter" potential?
