Governator Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I'd like to see him DH soon It's his first swing against a coach pitching to him in months. We aren't seeing him until June.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Far too pessimistic, even by general conservative means.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Far too pessimistic, even by general conservative means. June is pessimistic? Hardly. Pessimistic is we don't see him at all this year. I'd put better odds on that than seeing him before June.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 He hates Guerrero: The third-base experiment is likely to be short-lived, with first base the long-term end point for his defensive journey. He doesn’t have the arm or dexterity, let alone range, to be of much value anywhere else on the diamond. I think his power is for real, but the tightness and effort it takes to use it hurts more than helps against game pitching. It’s just too big of a leap for me to count on him turning into more than a 45 hit-tool guy, which isn’t enough to get his likely future value to a 40 or better. If everything breaks right, he could be a fringe starting option. Well that sentence is just patently false
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Well that sentence is just patently false Ridiculous to close the lid on someone that young. The widest possible range of outcomes is still on the table.

Pretty sad that Curtis Thigpen's most famous MLB moment is when Darren Fletcher said that "Curtis Thigpen looks good in his underwear" on live TV. Most awkward TV moment in Jays history. Those were dark times. Let's not go back there.

I feel like people here would be a lot less offended about Dan Farnsworth leaving him off the list if his name was Diego Sanchez.

He's still playing, in what is now his 3rd season in a row for the Nationals AA team.

My best (and pretty much only positive) memory of Curtis Thigpen was him hitting his first career HR at Candem Yards after like a year in the majors. Holy s*** our catching situation was awful for some time.

I'd put better odds on that than seeing him before June. I was referring to Farnsworth's rating of Guerrero. I guess I should have quoted BTS for it lol.
