youngtea Verified Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 It would be understandable to see a guy struggling because of an injury that caused a drop in velocity, but it boggles the mind to see these good young pitchers suddenly lose their command like that. I'm sure it's a bit of a cyclical issue, with lack of command leading to lost confidence causing more command issues. In the case of Romero I do think he was pitching above his head before he fell off, but I really thought Hutch was becoming a solid, mid-rotation arm. Hutchison has always had problems with walks. He has never had control of his pitches. He needs to redesign his pitching similar to what Halladay did in his stint in the minors. If he can make himself a better overall pitcher he will better off.

It's gone down each year in the majors and is league average or better.

Halladay was in a similar predicament and completely changed his approach. Obviously you need to work on it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Is Brandon Morrow even pitching any more??? Or Josh Johnson?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Rickey Romero has pitched 4 innings in AAA this season
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 I had been thinking about this over the off season... I do give the AA/Beeston front office some props for cutting ties with some of the pitchers we've had fail over the years. I think thy made some pretty good decisions actually in not gambling on those guys and not keeping them around too long.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Dustin McGowan 23.1 IP last year and a FIP of almost 8

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Dustin McGowan always had "the best stuff in the organization" Well...

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Dustin McGowan always had "the best stuff in the organization" Well... We also talked talked lot about Drabek's stuff. How much time was spent discussing McGowan's recovery process for various seemingly endless injuries? Shame when he did finally return it fizzled so poorly.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Is Brandon Morrow even pitching any more??? Or Josh Johnson? Bruh, Morrow is still a 3 WAR pitcher... Just over the course of 5 seasons, because he's literally always injured.

LOL I know It sucks though, most of us loved that guy One of the most frustrating players in Jays history

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Ian Hunter Kevin Pillar played with a broken hand last season - according to the Blue Jays assistant hitting coach. Someone to break a Pillar's hand, please.

Someone to break a Pillar's hand, please. Why? Pillar is a great player, he just shouldn't be hitting any higher than 8th

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Really bad news. Dickey is hurt
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Really bad news. Dickey is hurt The best part is how none of the other players seem to care
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Really bad news. Dickey is hurt Lmao they just snap the ball around the horn like nothing happened
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Apparently Storen's velocity is down early this season.. concerning for the Jays.. but at least he's still playing. Revere, who they sent to Washington, is on the DL.. and despite the Nats early strength, they need him back--Taylor strikes out too much, and Werth isn't doing well..
