Rumours swirling that Jays are interested in Carlos Beltran! I'd be all for this move. Have JB DH and EE @ 1st.

Beltran would be nice but getting someone under control for next season would be really nice as the FA class sucks for OF.

Beltran is just as bad of a defender in RF as Bautista maybe even worse. Only way I see them acquiring Beltran is if they traded Bautista for a lot more than they gave up for CB and played him at DH.

He's probably a little bit better and he's also not dealing with a foot issue. I think it's safe to say that he's a better bet for RF this year.

Beltran would be a good add, but nothing very impactful. I bet he would be a 0.5 WAR upgrade on the current roster, rest of season.

Now, that doesn't account for his veteran presents. Who knows how much they would be worth.

You're really out to lunch if you think trading Bautista is even being discussed.

The exciting, big ticket trade would be CarGo + McGee - both controllable for 2017 as well.

One option that I would bang a drum for if I were in the front office would be Nathan Eovaldi.

Rough results = potential value buy

Can provide SP insurance especially for 2017, but for 2016 I would be most excited about what he could do in relief. 100mph!

RP Hutchison in the September / the playoffs could be fun. He'd probably be a very good reliever, 94-97 with that big slider. Maybe a lot like Liam Hendriks.

Cargo and McGee would be sexy AF

if we had the loot to pull it off it sure would be.

A Saunder, Pillar, Cargo OF with Jose, Edwin 1B/DH would be amazing

I'm sure Toronto would have the assets if they want to do it.

McGee has been trash as a Rockie and no longer has much value.

CarGo is owed $20M next year so it's not like they can ask for the moon.

Gonzalez also wants to be traded in all likelihood, so there is pressure on Colorado.

The main rub is that Gonzalez is a substantially overrated player. Colorado will ask for more than he's worth. They'll need to be talked down off the ledge of ignorance.

I suggested Cargo and Blackmon from Colorado a few days back!!! Wtf lol

Both LH and 30 years old and Colorado with limited payroll.

At the time I suggested Pillar, Pompey and SRF, would that be enough?

Both are controlled for next year so even if Batz walks we have CF and RF covered !!!

Plus It takes 22-25 mill of the books as for Colorado!!!

They also get two younger outfielders

In the deal .

Heck since they seem to be short in pitching I would go as far as adding a PTBNL and promise them Hutch after we win the World Series!!! 😎

At that point our lineup would be so deep imagine the 7-9 in the order would be Tulo, Martin, Travis!!!

Are vets normally required to provide gifts?

What do you think is the asking price?

See above. CarGo is expensive and injury prone, McGee is a reliever and s*** the bed so his value will be low. I also agree that the former is overrated and likely commands more than he's worth, which shouldn't be a whole lot.

So my son was in Alomar's Jays camp near Calgary the last couple days. My buddy with a group of friends ran into him at a party tent yesterday at the Calgary Stampede and they pounded vodka and fruit punch all night. He said he was a ton of fun. My son is 8 and said of all the Jays coaches which included Barfield, Alomar and Devo etc, Alomar was the "most awesome". Kind of nice to hear that.

Played RBI baseball 3 on Sega and we beat Oakland 5-4 in 13 innings.

I struck out 22 times and all 10 of my hits were doubles. lol

I remember the original rbi baseball game from Nintendo that came out around 1987/88. They only had the teams that were in the playoffs in 86 and 87 but the American League team had a few good jays players. George Bell was one of the big home run guys and Jimmy key was one of the better pitchers. Vince Coleman from the Cardinals was impossible to throw out on any ground ball or steal attempt.

I love how any time Travis is asked about hitting leadoff, he responds by saying something about hitting in front of the "the best hitter in baseball".

had no idea where to post this but check out this opening to a Jays game on TSN in 2001. Some major nostalgia with the theme song there. Shulman and Tabby from 15 years ago. Shulman just as good, Tabby just as bad

Is everyone as happy as me to see the new slide rule is no longer discussed or an issue? That took what - 6 weeks for players to adjust and for it not be an issue anymore? They should do a follow up interview with Goose Gossage and point out that he's a F'ing moron.

I wouldn't say it's not an issue anymore completely, there is still a grey area and managers try to challenge every call.
