BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Good news provided that is U.S dollars it isn't lying if you don't tell the whole truth 140 can will be about 98 U.S so Rogers will have been Honest they spent 140 on payroll ! Truth shall set you free, it out there!!! Lol
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Shapiro was almost certainly hired to come in and slash. Only now because of what AA did do we have a chance to keep our payroll. AA really saved us from another 3 or 4 years of retooling. They didn't really need to slash. They needed to make business decisions to not keep inking or bringing guys in on 20m per contracts. And extending Jose & Edwin would've been dumn, because at some point the budget, team or both break.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Updated my salary spreadsheet, figured I would post it here. http://i66.tinypic.com/11qs4ee.jpg Even though it's miniscule, you may as well have put 2 empty roster spots and counted the 1m for LG MIN guys as the minimum. There's only 23 guys on that list.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 If anyone thinks we're going to win the WS without any bad contracts, they're crazy. Especially in our division. Yes, we have to look for value and be efficient. That's the most important thing. But as we get higher on the win curve we have to be ready to pay more per win. I agree. But if we're going to carry Martin, Donaldson, Tulowitzki, Bautista, Edwin & a pitcher on 20m per contracts. The rest of that team better be pretty damn efficient.

I think that's why transitioning both Sanchez and Osuna to the rotation next year to start with is important. See what you got and you can always move them back to the bullpen.

A rebound from Hutch would be hugely helpful. Stroman, Osuna, Sanchez, Hutch could go a long way towards keeping the rotation cheap for at least a few years. If I was Shapiro I'd look to see if anyone is still making any good offers on Tulo. He is the one that scares me the most. I don't see either of Bautista or Edwin going completely down the toilet anytime soon, apart from Jose needing to be moved back in the infield. Jose should be at 1B next year, especially with the outfielders we have in Pompey, Pillar, Revere and Saunders. He could still go out there every once in a while if someone needs to DH.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 But they were going to slash. It depends on what. I don't consider moving guys like Jose & Edwin to be slashing. I consider un-tying the moves to bring Martin, Donaldson & Tulowitzki to Toronto as slashing.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Tulo,EE, Dickey and his catcher and a PTBNL along with 8-14 mill in salary relief this year to Seattle!!! Taijuan Walker,Brad Miller, Edwin Diaz,Luiz Gohara, Danny Hultzen, Patrick Kivelhan to the Jays!!! Clearing the way for Batz to become DH and extended!!! Hello Chris Davis? Then we flip one or two of the arms we received not named Walker if possible, plus whatever! And include a Shanchez or Hutch to T.B for archer!!! Possible Rotation Stroman,Archer,Walker,Osuna ? Then you resign Price, show him the Money!!! That Rotation should buy you enough time to restock the minors alone and help you win now also. Hope this is what you wanted from me King!!! Lol

That's insane! I thought he went to 15 this year. Biggest loss with AA is his ability to sign guys to great contracts.

Carrasco: 4 yrs/$22M (15-18) & 19-20 team option Kluber: 5 yrs/$38.5M (15-19) & 20-21 team option Brantley: 4 yrs/$25M (14-17) & 18 team option Kipnis: 6 yrs/$52.5M (14-19) & 20 team option Gomes: 6 yrs/$23M (14-19) & 20-21 team option Some of those are crazy, lol
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Updated my salary spreadsheet, figured I would post it here. http://i66.tinypic.com/11qs4ee.jpg I would get rid of Revere and Smoak, and Saunders should only get around 1.5 million IMO. That would bring the payroll down to 100. 40 million is alot to work with.

admin Site Manager Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Wouldn't surprise me to see Tulo moved.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Wouldn't surprise me to see Tulo moved. For what and to which team? Tiny market, value could be minimal to a lot of teams.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Tulo stays I think. EE is still the most likely move candidate imo
admin Site Manager Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 For what and to which team? Tiny market, value could be minimal to a lot of teams. Never thought that much into it lol. But from Shapiro's perspective, I could see him trying to get rid of that.

Nice...I might be able to get on the Shapiro bandwagon.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 If Shapiro is apparently allowed to bring 2 of his people with him....I wonder if that could include Brantley
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Tulo stays I think. EE is still the most likely move candidate imo Edwin has 10/5 rights and as an impending free agent he has very little incentive to accept a trade somewhere else when he can pad his numbers at RC for a big payday a year from now. Plus he likes it in Toronto and they are coming off an ALCS appearance. I doubt he'd even consider a trade. Tulo is probably the most likely to accept a trade since even with a NTC he has no real ties to Toronto and he's locked up for five years.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Hmm too much rum. Have you been told to STFU today! FYSMC ! Have a Nice Day!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 For what and to which team? Tiny market, value could be minimal to a lot of teams. Also you would have to replace Tulo with a SS who is going to provide similar value and there really aren't any available.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Shapiro will have to work his magic to turn this expensive train wreck around. Good thing is, he's used to working with tight budgets in Cleveland for many years.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Also you would have to replace Tulo with a SS who is going to provide similar value and there really aren't any available. You'd have to factor what the $aving$ would buy you. They could end up with 2 or 3 players for the salary Tulo makes.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Also you would have to replace Tulo with a SS who is going to provide similar value and there really aren't any available. He'd have to find a way to acquire an undervalued SS option from another team. I've always been a fan of Brad Miller in Seattle, but don't know how they view him.
