Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I know bautista wouldn't like it But I'd love to have ODay Scum on my team Why? That s*** is between the lines, if it makes his team better, they both don't give a s***.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 We can only dream... If Payroll really was going to go up why leak that it is going down? A lot of bad PR for Rogers right now. Because then we will all be happy when it goes up because we thought it was going down, emotional roller coaster.
baubau Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Normally, if it wasn't Rosenthal, I'd have just thought this rumor was BS drive up the value / interest in Davis. I remember Lester was linked to the Jays were people in Toronto were talking about it but no one else really. But KR doesn't usually make BS up or report fake news for clicks. He is probably one of the few sources I trust. So its interesting.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Rosenthal never said what you believe he said. All he said in his article is "The Red Sox, Astros, Blue Jays and Cardinals are among the possible fits [for Davis]." People should really read the source material on this stuff. This isn't news. Thanks, speculation makes more sense.

How dare you point out my faults to skim a article & read what I want! Well now I am sad. He's reporting what Boras told him, nothing more. I don't recall him having a history as such. Not saying he couldn't do it, just would surprise me.

Sadly, we won't sign anyone of notice and the budget will go down.. every indication leads me to believe that. And now many reporters starting to make noises to the same.. Oh well, we enjoyed this year..
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Of course we are linked to Davis. His scumbag agent is using us to try and start a bidding war for him. What is an agent's job?
baubau Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Fail!! Fine. I won't invite you to drink with me to wash away this sadness then Spank!

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Our lineup was pretty much right-handed heavy; Davis adds the power bat from Left side, which should mixed in with Donaldson and Bautista/EE. As I said in an earlier thread, I feel like trading EE to a team that needs a manageable-cost 1 yr power bat for pitching and/or a contact hitter and signing Davis might be a smart idea for the lineup in general. However, I don't think Shapiro will bite that hard on Davis, might make him an offer but I doubt it will be "this is us going for it" type offer.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I don't recall commenting on how good an investment he'd be for the Cubs. If you like Price in a Cubs uniform you are virtually saying its a good investment I bet after the Jays sign Price, two or three days later you will be salivating over how good a 1-2-3 punch of Price Stroman and Osuna looks
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 We're not right handed heavy, they crush LHP'ing and RHP'ing, this is a fallacy.
Key22 Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I see a number of outlets assuming the Jays payroll is $140 million - but there is no confirmation from any Jay's source to this - it may in fact be $180-$200 million. We have the market for that payroll. The Jays need a left handed power bat. AA played to the team's strength by adding bats in Donaldson and Tulo and added to a pretty decent catcher by adding Martin. People thought all that was odd since what they needed was pitching. A recent article was talking about the Jays skipping price and looking to add Gordon or Heyward and then looking at getting two of the second tier pitchers like Latos/Fister/Lackey/Colon/ etc on shorter deals. If the Jays do in fact have the upper budget - then they could easily add a Davis (who is riskier given his off year and his high K totals). Still you gotta salivate over a line-up that could product 4 guys who could all hit 40 home runs in a year and a lock (barring injury) to hit 30 homers each. With that line-up - we don't need no stinking peeeeeetching.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I've never understood why people think we 'need' a lefty power bat.....to me it becomes an issue when you have too many LH bats as late in games you can get shut down by good LOOGY's. Doesn't seem to be an issues with RH heavy lineups

43211234 Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 It's interesting that their might be many more substantial rumours without AA running things. Instead of JP Morosi just throwing every single name at the Blue Jays wall and hoping one thing comes true.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 What is an agent's job? to tell the truth. I mean Boras should be saying that his player lacks focus and with this contract an Adderall exemption is not guaranteed. He also should remind the teams that his player will not be 29 for all the years of this contract. That's what a good person would do...but Boras is evil.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Wins man, wins. You take them however they come. Sure, in the regular season.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Wat He'll help towards WAR in the regular season, the Birds need pitching, when they get there?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 How's Davis' defense at 1B? According to Orioles Hangout, every time he doesn't win the gold glove it is absolute robbery.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Wat It's not dumn... with our org as set.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 tulo is the one that gets moved if davis is signed davis 1b, ee dh, bautista s***** rf Omfg would you let this go already?
