Toronto Blue Jays starter David Price will be a coveted commodity on the free agent market, but he might only have eyes for one team.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the 30-year-old lefty is interested in reuniting with former manager Joe Maddon and the Chicago Cubs. Price played under Maddon for parts of seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays and was the recepient of the 2012 Cy Young Award.

Price started last season as a member of the Detroit Tigers before being traded to the Jays at the trade deadline in August. The native of Murfeesboro, Tennessee was a combined 18-5 with a league-leading 2.45 ERA and a WHIP of 1.076. With the Jays, Price was 9-1 in 11 starts.

In the postseason, Price was 1-2 with a 6.17 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. He started three games and made one appearance out of the bullpen.

Price heads a free agent pitching class that includes the Los Angeles Dodgers' Zack Greinke, Jordan Zimmermann of the Washington Nationals and the World Series champion Kansas City Royals' Johnny Cueto.

Rosenthal also reports that the Blue Jays have interest in Baltimore Orioles free agent first baseman Chris Davis.

Davis, 29, led the MLB in home runs this past season with 47. He hit .262 with 117 runs batted in and an OPS of .923. A native of Longview, Texas, Davis hit 53 home runs two seasons ago.

Major League Baseball free agency officially opens on November 13.

Well, if we can't ink any good SP, I suppose more offense doesn't hurt. So...what kind of a contract is Davis going to command? Maybe this allows us to trade Bautista or EE for SP?

I think wherever Price goes it will be the NL. He just really wants to hit IMO lol. When he sat down with Zaun he said one of the 5 conditions that he had on where he would sign is that he was allowed to take BP every week.

Davis why? We need pitching. I can't see us signing Davis. EE and JB are'nt going to waive there rights to leave this club.

Blue Jays. We aim to by two run digits or not win at all!

Seems like extending one of EE or Bautista would be cheaper than signing Davis. Bringing in Davis doesn't make sense unless you're sure both EE and JB are gonna walk and I really doubt that you can't sign at least one of them to reasonable terms.

Interesting. This move allows the Jays to trade EE and actually use Sanchez against the Os.

Yes, I'm sure EE will gladly waive his NTC and we can trade him anywhere we like. He clearly hates it here.

lol... there's no chance they waive their clause. At worst we get comp picks, at the end of the day. Barring an extension to one of them. I'm sure baubau was being facetious, but people need to get this thought out of there head.

Here's a question:

Would you rather sign Davis to 5-6 years now or Bautista or EE (one of the 2, doesn't matter who) to 4 years next year?

Davis is only 29, so we should get 5-6 good years of production out of him provided he stays healthy (All 3 players have had their share of injury history). Assuming 5-6 years would be enough term for Davis, we would have a stacked team next year and would receive QO compensation for either Bautista or EE if one or both is not re-signed.

So who would you rather sign? Davis now or Bautista/EE later?

Tis the season for every wannabe reporter to fling s*** at the wall and hope something sticks. Tis also the season we see professional writers wipe their Twitter accounts when they get desperate and fall for it.

Sign Bautista/EE. Theres a ton of risk with Davis since he strikes out so much and I see his career more along the path oh Josh Hamilton. While Bautista and EE are power hitters they have elite BB/K numbers which lessens the risk IMO.

Give me Bautistia at 4/80 over Davis at 6/150

I'd like to believe that if the numbers didn't match up on an extension and the team came to him and said "we thinks this deal makes the team better in the long run," he'd be willing to consider it. Eddy's always seemed like a great guy from the little we see.
