Nafro Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I would 10/10 times rather sign Mourneau to a one year buy low contract, than throw 7/150 million at Chris Davis. Then spend the rest of our budget on pitching.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 If we sign a player, I'd much rather it be someone like Heyward or Zobrist than Chris "go big or go home" Davis.
Nafro Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Yes that seems like a brilliant idea. Move Tulo, give Goins the SS job, than use money that was going to Tulo to Chris Davis. If that actually happens, I will stop being a Jays fan after 36 years and become an Orioles fan...and eat my own eyeball.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 He'll help towards WAR in the regular season, the Birds need pitching, when they get there? Your dumn
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Yeah thinking about Davis in this lineup is fapworthy, and it would also piss off Orioles fans...but if we're gonna blow 20-25 per on a guy, just pay Heyward whatever he wants.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Your dumn No, the team in place provides silly WAR, we need pitching.

Heyward would be the one player I could see spending the money on for another position player.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 If you like Price in a Cubs uniform you are virtually saying its a good investment I bet after the Jays sign Price, two or three days later you will be salivating over how good a 1-2-3 punch of Price Stroman and Osuna looks You're pretty stupid.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 No, the team in place provides silly WAR, we need pitching. wat
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 According to Orioles Hangout, every time he doesn't win the gold glove it is absolute robbery. So... He has nice soft hands?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 wat f***, okay WAR and math fellas, we need pitching, it's not hard?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 No, the team in place provides silly WAR, we need pitching. Whatever you say brah
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 He'll help towards WAR in the regular season, the Birds need pitching, when they get there? Edison Volquez started game 1 for the Royals in the WS
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Whatever you say brah Right, we need Davis because EE and JB would suck, Yet, with an SP of Stroman/Dickey/Hutch is da bomb?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Edison Volquez started game 1 for the Royals in the WS And?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Right, we need Davis because EE and JB would suck, Yet, with an SP of Stroman/Dickey/Hutch is da bomb? I don't want Davis. I want Heyward. He helps a lot with run prevention and is a safer bet over a long term deal.

Even offensively I feel more comfortable with Heyward. Sure he may not have the "power" but he fits the lineup better IMO with the high walk rate and low strikeout rate. I'd sign Heyward to 8/250 with a 4 year opt out before Davis to 6/150
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Lets get real... I love advanced stats and s***, but we need Pitching, period.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Lets get real... I love advanced stats and s***, but we need Pitching, period. I don't think anyone is disputing that... Heyward lets not forget helps out the pitching staff as well.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Who cares about pitching when we score 10 runs a game? Load up on offense baby!
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Lets get real... I love advanced stats and s***, but we need Pitching, period. Lol spanky
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I don't want Davis. I want Heyward. He helps a lot with run prevention and is a safer bet over a long term deal. Totally and he's only 26. I would imagine his HR total would go up just from playing in the AL East anyways, without even sacrificing his great K/BB ratios.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I don't think anyone is disputing that... Heyward lets not forget helps out the pitching staff as well. I understand that, but is it feasable to throw up an unrespectable SP during a Post season run?
nonamejays Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Why not sign Davis and Heyward, trade Revere for pitching and add a couple ground ball type pitchers that could be bargain contracts like Anderson. That way you'll have replacement EE and Jose after this year, while having EE and Jose so you can go all out this season.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I don't want Davis. I want Heyward. He helps a lot with run prevention and is a safer bet over a long term deal. That's different.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I understand that, but it is it feasable to throw up an respectable SP during a Post season run? If you sign Heyward you should be able to still sign another solid SP in the Shark, Kuma tier. If you non-tender Revere and Thole that saves 8 million. That leaves about $40 million to work with. You should be able to structure Heyward and a FA SP with lower $ the first year if you have to in order to fit the budget. Maybe Rogers gives them an extra 5-10 million if you tell them you can sign 2 big FA which will increase their revenue.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Price, Heyward and Davis please. need some good lefty bats in this lineup.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Lets get real... I love advanced stats and s***, but we need Pitching, period. What are you saying? People don't want Jason Heyward because omg dem fancy stats. His addition of Wins Above Replacement are just as important as whatever other starter you might sign that gives you similar value. Jason Heyward would make this team noticeably better than a lower tier starter would.
