Big loss #Jays #Pirates There are bound to be some painful casualties when you suddenly replace a successful regime, but hopefully Shapiro will bring in some of his own bright minds.

Lindor, Frazier, Kipnis, Zimmer is a good core.... Shapiro is good in his job

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Forgot Brantley, Gomes, Carrasco, Salazar, Kluber... s*** how did the Indians not do better last year? Stars and scrubs Sands + Johnson + Swisher + Murphy + Urshella + Aviles + Bourn + Ramiez + Moss + Gomes = 0.4 fWAR in about 2500 plate appearances They were 10th in positional WAR and 8th in pitching WAR, so the role players collectively really let them down by not contributing a handful of wins.

vic city Verified Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I don't know if there's any substance to this, but interesting none the less. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb-rumour-mill-pillar-for-pitching-help-1.396290 Fox Sports' JP Morosi is reporting that the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Yankees have been in active trade talks with the Cleveland Indians about a potential pitcher for every day outfielder swap. With OF Michael Brantley expected to miss the start of the 2016 season after undergoing shoulder surgery and the team holding six bonafide starting pitchers, the Cleveland Indians would be willing to part with one. Do the Jays believe enough in Dalton Pompey's future to entertain the thought of trading Pillar, a gold-glove calibre defender? Or are they committed enough to Pillar that they would be willing to part with the 23-year-old Pompey, who was the teams' Opening Day centre fielder this year? With the expected departure of ace David Price and a need to upgrade the rotation, the Jays' front office faces a tough decision. [Mod note: Thread merged because Morosi's tweet has been discussed in this thread since yesterday at ~4 pm.]

Worst ... trade ... idea ... ever! 1 hour ago Mats Naslund was awesome Nooooooooooooooo! 2 hours ago Chris Jones Trading Pillar would signal to fans that they've given up on winning a world series 2 hours ago John Summerhill These rumours come from the same place that states Price is going to a different team everyday. No facts at all. 3 hours ago funstuf would be one the last Jays I would trade, he was awesome this year! Robert Woodburn I understand Pillar's trade value will never be higher but they plays he makes on the field with his glove is infectious and makes the team play harder. He's young and extremely talented and the type of player that seems to get along with everyone. Why would you trade that away so another team can benefit. You have players you can get rid of...Revere, Pendleton, Saunders, Travis...just to name a few.

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Criff Pendleton is a relief pitcher that throws in the low 90s.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I agree with the last guy, please get rid of Pendleton. He is useless. He won an MVP, but sucked in the 92 World Series. Time to sell high at age 55 before he loses value.
