The thing is Any pitcher looking to rebuild their values is not going to want to pitch in the AL East

Rich Hill just did rebuild his value in the East.

Do pitchers care about win/loss record? Just tell them "hey look at hutch, pitched like dogshit but still put up a 13-5 record. With this offense, you can probably win 20 games."

Yes they do care. A lot.

They probably know it has nothing to do with their potential earnings now. If they don't their agents should tell them.

What do you think Votto would cost us if we ate all of the contract?

Can you really see us eating that contract? And more so, what monies would be left to re-build the rotation?

I mean if you have Votto in this line-up you can throw Jeff Francis in there, who cares.

If Votto was in the line up we could just use a pitching machine as our #3 starter.

Boston or St. Louis gets him probably.

If I had to guess, i'd say Boston gets him. Seems like Boston is going hard this offseason

I wonder if that Kimbrel package would have been like 80% of the way to an agreeable deal for Freeman

Freeman available ....

Would be amazing if the Jays could get him. Certainly help soften the blow for EE/Bau's eventual departure. However I doubt Atlanta takes anything less than Stroman as the main piece. Maybe Osuan after looking at the Simmons trade again haha.

Why would we want Freeman though?

Colabello gives you 140wRC+ which is fairly close to Freeman. Freeman is a bit better on defense at 1B.

Then we have Edwin which is kinda similar.

Only difference is that Freeman is only 26yo.

The odds that Colabello provides anywhere close to a 140 wRC+ are remote.

Actually Osuna is an interesting piece

Thinking more on it, you could be right. I am just thinking that they want a starter but guess Atlanta would have no issues with sending Osuna back down and stretching him - a position I doubt the Jays would take currently.

I'd also happily pull the trigger if that was the main piece going back, maybe add a DJ Davis here and there.

FREDDIE FREEMAN approximate value, done like an extremely lazy ex-blogger who peddles mostly misinformation and false certainty.

Age = 26

Projected WARz = 4 + 4 + 4 + 3.5 + 3 + 2.5 = 21 WARz

Total Value = ~$170M, give or take $25M. Give or take $5M on that give or take, too.

Cost = 12 + 20.5 + 21 + 21 + 22 + 22 = $118.5M

Surplus value = like $50M

- Roberto Osuna's value has a ton of variance based on whether or not you think he can start. If we say that he's worth as much as a pitching prospect in the top 26-50 range in baseball, then that's almost $20M.

- Let's say Sanchez is worth half of that because I hate him and he's terrible.

- Let's say Pompey is a hitting prospect in the same prospect range as Osuna, 26-50th overall. That's worth a few million more than Osuna.

So that's a roughly equivalent package to Freeman's value! Pompey + Osuna + Sanchez.

I used those guys because every trade parter wants cheap major league pieces or major league ready pieces.

If you think Harris, Alford, Vlad Jr., Tellez, or SRF fit into the back end of a top 100 list then they would be worth somewhere around $10M, maybe the low teens. Similar enough to Sanchez.

And obviously, specific teams would be much higher and lower on specific prospects.

Also of note:

- Devon Travis has immense value. He projects as a top 10 second baseman in baseball and is obviously still cheap for half a decade. We're talking about a hypothetical value that approaches Freddie Freeman's surplus value, all on his own. Actually the number would probably be higher than Freeman's on paper. Such a good trade...

- Kevin Pillar has similar, sizeable value.

Yes, but can he stick?

sarcasm! =P

A package consisting of Collabello, Tellez, Urena, and Greene should do the trick.

Pft, why give so much? Just give em Dickey and PTBNL. That'll do et!

If the package revolved around Sanchez and Osuna I would gladly make that trade. A JD-Freeman-Tulo middle of the order would be great even if JB and EE leave for FA.

so you don't think Osuna can be a starter?
